YouTube has been coming up with a number of policies and is trying its best to keep everyone’s interest in mind. There are many disturbing videos which are not suitable for children. The channel has now come up with a policy to stop the spreading of these videos, although YouTube’s algorithm will have to do all the work. It will assess each and every video which is uploaded by a dedicated team. This will also have a major impact on the YouTube kids app, any video which seems inappropriate will be immediately and automatically be blocked.
These changes and new policies were announced in a blog post on Medium by James Bridle. It highlighted that certain characters like Marvel superheroes, Peppa Pig, and Frozen Elsa act violently along with being sexual at times. These videos can turn out to be unsettling for children.
James Bridle wrote, “Someone or something or some combination of people and things is using YouTube to systematically frighten, traumatise, and abuse children, automatically and at scale,”.
The intention of this news is that it spreads faster and shared across all social media platforms. Content that is already age restricted will not at all be promoted in the kid’s app. This policy seems to be the right step taken in the right direction.
