Today in China, Xiaomi has officially announced the Redmi 6, successor to Redmi 5. This is the first time in a long time that a Xiaomi phone will be coming with a MediaTek processor. The Helio P22 is the latest MediaTek chipset, which is believed to be made with a 12nm process. The Octa-core processor will be clocked at 2.0 GHz, which will make it a high-performance smartphone in the price range it will retail at.

Redmi 6 Specifications and Price

If you have been wondering about the Redmi 6 price, well, it will retail starting at 799 Yuan (Rs 8,500) for 3GB RAM variant. Whereas there is a 4GB RAM model, which will fetch at 999 Yuan (). Talking about the specifications, it will sport a 5.45-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and HD+ resolution.

In terms of camera department, it will sport the same dual rear cameras setup seen on the Redmi Y2 in India. The 12MP + 5MP rear camera setup with same pixel size and aperture numbers. Here Xiaomi has introduced the Face Unlock feature as well, which was missing on the Redmi 5. It will be driven by AI.

Redmi 6A Specifications and Price

This is the second handset introduced by the company at its launch event in China. It will replace the Redmi 5A handset in the Redmi range as the cheapest smartphone. Xiaomi is taking a MediaTek treatment on this one as well.

It will be powered by Helio A22 processor, which will use a 12nm FinFET process for manufacturing the chipset. The clock speed is at 2.0 GHz and it will be supported by a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The screen on this one will be a 5.45-inch with 18:9 aspect ratio.

As far as the camera specifications are concerned, it will sport a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera as seen on the previous generation, but with obvious software upgrades. It will retail at a dirt cheap price of 599 Yuan (Rs 6,300).
