2018 saw a variety of trends in the smartphone industry and one that most of the company have jumped on is a gaming phone. And cashing in that trend again is Xiaomi. Who is all set to introduce its yet another gaming phone, dubbed as Xiaomi Play. Apart from its two Black Shark models launched in 2018, the company is possibly about to introduce an affordable gaming phone to its Chinese audience.
The Chinese smartphone maker is alleged working on an all-new smartphone dubbed as Xiaomi Play on December 24. This belief coincides with the fact shared by one Weibo user stating that Xiaomi is planning an event around Christmas Eve.
But the question arises…
Why do they want to introduce a Xiaomi Play smartphone?
Given Honor’s flagship level performer the Honor Play was introduced as a gaming device with TurboGPU technology and was marketed as the affordable gaming phone, it only made sense for Xiaomi to introduce one such handset.
Now as far as the Indian audience is concerned, they’ve got a POCO F1 phone as their unofficial gaming phone since it comes with claimed liquid cooling tech and a flagship chipset as well.
Only because the Chinese audience of the Xiaomi, (homeland of the brand) doesn’t feel left out, they could be introducing this Xiaomi Play smartphone. And more or less it makes sense that this phone could be the rebranded version of the POCO F1. Since POCOphone is not made official in China, this could be a big probability.
Of course, Xiaomi could be launching an all-new device altogether, but the possibility of that is low. As most of the times, we have seen Chinese smartphone brands rebrand its phone for Indian markets. And there have been phones rebranded from India to be released in China.
