Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 passes FCC

Mi Pad 4

We know that the tablet space has lost a lot of its sales due to the rise of 6+ inch smartphones or phablets. However, there still seems to be a niche segment that always prefers to use them. Xiaomi doesn’t have as huge a portfolio in tablets as it has in smartphones. However, what it offers is very tempting. The Mi Pad series hasn’t seen a refresh since April last year when we saw the Mi Pad 3. Now, we have some very strong evidence as to the presence of its successor – the Mi Pad 4.

Mi Pad 4: Real or Imaginary?

Xiaomi’s Mi Pad 4 was caught passing the ropes at the FCC by 91mobiles recently. And the description in the Federal Communications Commission hints at what can be Xiaomi’s only tablet. No specs or schematics except the charge rating of 5V/2A, which doesn’t help a lot. The model number that FCC disclosed was M1806D9W. This FCC sighting follows an approval from 3C, at Xiaomi’s homeland which again just tells us about dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth qualities.

This is solid proof that the Mi Pad 4 is not a figment of our imagination. But hearsay from leaks-land suggests that Xiaomi will equip the slate with a Snapdragon 660, 18:9 display, and a massive 6,000mAh battery. Screen size will likely remain close to its predecessor as will the build quality mostly because it (Mi Pad 3) is already a very polished device.

This is what we’ve recently seen circulating the airwaves and there is still no official confirmation from Xiaomi’s side as of this writing. What do you guys think? Is a tablet still relevant to today’s huge screen smartphones? Will the Mi Pad 4 sell? Let us know in the comments below.
