Xiaomi’s Mi A2 is not yet officially confirmed to be in existence but it almost feels like the handset is official. The previous two weeks have seen two massive leaks covering all aspects of the yet unconfirmed handset. Both leaks emerged from Europe as one of them was a YouTube video from a Spanish channel showcasing the complete phone in a comprehensive manner. The other was a Swiss retailer listing the handset on sale starting August 8. However, it seems Xiaomi is finally launching the handset next month.
The company published a quiz on Twitter today asking Mi Fans to suggest where the next Mi Global event will take place. There were options like Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe, and Mars to choose from. While this is said to be a global launch event, it doesn’t even remotely suggest what Xiaomi has in store. Although, considering the Mi A1 launched in a lot of countries being an Android One phone, launching the Mi A2 globally makes sense here.
Mi A2: Coming sooner than you think
Xiaomi has also not declared the date of the event but we’re sure that will be sometime next month. This would also sit well with the August 8 sales date that we saw on the Swiss listing of the Mi A2. For now, consider this an optimistic guess.
As for what the Mi A2 will look like on paper, we’re already aware of every single detail. The handset will be a renamed Mi 6X that will represent a major upgrade over the Mi A1. We’ll see a much better processor, a bigger 18:9 screen, and also an improved selfie camera.
