Xiaomi 12, Realme GT 2 Pro, Moto Edge X30 Set to Launch With Snapdragon 8 Gen 1


Xiaomi 12, Realme GT 2 Pro, and Moto Edge X30 will be the first phones confirmed to launch with Qualcomm’s brand new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. Motorola has announced that the Moto Edge X30 will debut on December 9, but on the other hand, Realme and Xiaomi have not revealed the exact launch dates of their new flagships.

Xiaomi 12

Xiaomi took to Twitter to confirm that the Xiaomi 12 will be its first flagship to come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The smartphone may be upgradable to the company’s next-generation MIUI 13 out-of-the-box.

Although the exact launch date and other details about the Xiaomi 12 series are yet to be revealed, the flagship phone by the Chinese giant is tipped to debut on December 12 in China as per reports. On the other hand, its global launch could take place sometime in early Q1, 2022. Previous rumors suggested the Xiaomi 12 series will comprise the vanilla Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 12X, Xiaomi 12X Pro, Xiaomi 12 Ultra, and a Lite variant. Though nothing has been confirmed yet.

Realme GT 2 Pro

Just after the launch of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Realme announced that it is set to bring the Realme GT 2 Pro with the new SoC. Realme India & Europe CEO Madhav Sheth has officially confirmed that the smartphone will launch in December, though the exact launch date has not been shared.

In terms of specifications, recent leaks suggested that the Realme GT 2 Pro will feature a large 6.8-inch WQHD+ flat OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the device will be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, coupled with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. There will be a 32MP snapper at the front for the selfies.

Meanwhile, the leaked renders of the Realme GT 2 Pro revealed that its rear panel will see a unique horizontal camera module that looks a lot like the Nexus 6P. This camera setup will include a 50MP primary lens, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle shooter, and an 8MP telephoto lens.

Moto Edge X30

Apart from Xiaomi and Realme, Motorola has confirmed that the Moto Edge X30 will be launching with Qualcomm’s brand new chipset. The Lenovo-owned company teased its launch on Weibo mentioning that the smartphone will be launched in China at 7:30 PM CST Asia (5 PM IST) on December 9th.

When it comes to its specifications, the Moto Edge X30 will reportedly feature a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. The smartphone is expected to feature a 60MP camera at the front for selfies and video calls. More specific details are yet to be revealed.

Qualcomm also said that companies including Black Shark, Honor, iQOO, Nubia, OnePlus, Oppo, Sharp, Sony, Vivo, and ZTE are working on bringing their flagships with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 that will start hitting the market by the end of 2021.
