WhatsApp for iOS getting location, time stickers, group member search feature

WhatsApp on iPhones just got a new location and time stickers as part of an update to v2.18.30. Another minor but useful feature under the update is the option to search for group members. The stickers feature has also been spotted on some Android devices. It seems that the update is rolling out in batches as not all iPhone users are seeing the new feature.

Location and time stickers aren’t a new thing and they’re mostly used on Instagram and Snapchat. WhatsApp predominantly being a messaging platform might not see much adoption of the feature but it is a useful one.
To use stickers, users have to tap the ‘+’ icon next to the message box. Then select any video or photo to share with your contacts.

After that, tap the smiley icon present on the top bar to select the sticker you would like to add. The stickers can be removed also simply by drag-drop.
The group search feature is for users who have a lot of groups and members. Participants or members can be found using the group info window.

Apart from that, WhatsApp is also testing a “Forwarded Message” feature on its Android beta. The feature is aimed to reduce spam and might also be introduced to iOS after Android. Meanwhile, WhatsApp’s big UPI payments feature is still in beta as the Facebook-owned platform is working to push it to stable users soon.
