Western Digital introduces two new SSDs — the WD Black SN850 and the Black AN1500 for the Indian market. These SSDs launched in several global markets in early October, and now they are foraying into the country. The WD Black SN850 is the company’s first PCIe Gen 4 SSD and the Black AN1500, on the other hand, comes as the high-end PCIe Gen 3 add-in SSD.
WD Black SN850 — Features
The first PCIe Gen 4 SSD comes as a direct successor to SN750 launched earlier. The new series happens to be a significant upgrade from the predecessor with a much higher read and write speeds.
The new SSDs offer 7000MB per second and 5300MB per second read and write speeds (sequential), respectively. The latest series claims to be optimised for top-tier gaming. There’s also an optional heatsink model, which features customisable RGB lighting that is further programmable through WD Black’s dashboard.
The new WD Black SN850 NVMe SSD’s storage options include 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB SSDs. There are three other heatsink models also offering similar storage options. The heatsink models here are intended for desktop PCs. Lastly, they come with a five years warranty and support Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 operating systems.
WD Black AN1500 — Features
The WD Black AN1500 is the new add-in SSD card for existing PCIe Gen 3 users. It is a bootable, plug and play card with RADIO controller for PCIe Gen 3 slots in PCs. The AN1500 is based on PCIe Gen 3 technology that offers read and write speeds of up to 6500MB per second and 4100MB per second. The add-in SSD also supports RGB lighting for Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 operating systems.
The add-in WD Black AN1500 NVMe SSD features three storage variants: 1TB, and 2TB and 4TB. These are further backwards compatible with PCIe Gen 3 x2, PCIe Gen 3 x1, PCIe Gen 2 x4 and more. The SSD also offers a five-year warranty.

The WD Black SN850 NVMe SSD non-heatsink version will be start at Rs 14,490 and the WD Black AN1500 retails from Rs 30,990.
