Vivo X80 Series goes official in the country. The flagship series and successors to the Vivo X70 series are unveiled, comprising Vivo X80 and the Vivo X80 Pro smartphones. The Pro model is traditionally the ultra-premium model among the two. To justify that, it comes with a flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, and the device is powered by the ZEISS Gimbal Portrait camera, which claims to be the industry’s first portrait camera with a built-in Gimbal.
The Vivo X80, on the other hand, comes with an industry-first 50MP IMX866 sensor and is backed by Dimensity 9000 SoC. The V1+ chip made its way to these devices, intending to have better low light images. Both the models will be available for purchase through Flipkart, Vivo India e-store, and mainline retail partners. The X80 Pro comes in Cosmic Black, and the Vivo X80 is available in two colours — Cosmic Black and Urban Blue.

Vivo X80 Series — It’s all in the ZEISS powered cameras
Since the Vivo X series’ primary emphasis is on cameras, let’s get into that first. Like its predecessors, the Vivo X80 series has an exclusive partnership with ZEISS. This time, the partnership has brought a Cinematic Bokeh feature for the first time that aims to create artistic, oval flare bokeh with a 2.39:1 aspect ratio. This is to create a widescreen cinematic lens effect during video capture. There is an AI video enhancement feature for better night scene effects as well.
The Vivo X80 Pro also supports XDR (Extreme Dynamic Range) Photo, for the first time on an Android smartphone, claims Vivo. It further suggests that all rear cameras on the entire X80 series have certified compliance with ZEISS T* coating, which significantly enhances the phones shooting capabilities in complex light and high contrast scenarios. The Vivo X80 series cameras also comprise ZEISS Natural 2.0, which promises to bring authentic and better-reproduced colour representation.
V1+ Professional Imaging Chip
The Vivo X80 Pro has a quad rear camera system comprising a 50MP GNV camera with OIS support, a 48MP wide-angle camera, a 12MP Gimbal portrait sensor, and an 8MP periscope lens. For selfies, the Pro model equips a 32MP selfie shooter.
The Vivo X80 has a 50MP IMX866 sensor coupled with a 12MP portrait camera and a 12MP wide-angle camera; it also has a 32MP front-facing camera. The Vivo X80 models come with the company’s professional imaging chip — V1+ chip in its latest iteration. It has a built-in AI system that promises to enhance the visual experience in video and during gameplay.
Accompanying the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Dimensity 9000 SoC(s), the Vivo X80 series is equipped with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage options. Both the models also feature Ultra Large Liquid Vapour Cooling Chamber for heat dissipation. This will be helpful while playing high resource-intensive games and while recording videos.
The Vivo X80 Pro ships with a 4700mAh battery supporting 80W FlashCharge and 50W wireless charging. The Vivo X80, on the other hand, ships with a 4500mAh battery.
The other prominent new feature of the Vivo X80 Pro is its new 3D ultrasonic large fingerprint sensor. It is an in-display sensor with a more significant surface area that promises to unlock the device in as low as 0.2 seconds. The feature further has support for two-finger authentication and added security.
For battery gaming experience, the Vivo X80 series has an X-axis linear motor allowing screen-based vibration. Besides, a dual stereo speaker system promises a powerful bass experience.
