7 Vivo phones will receive the FunTouch OS-based on Android Oreo via OTA

Vivo phones will receive the Android Oreo update

Android 8.0 Oreo has been around for quite a few months now. While companies like Nokia are evidently working on updating their devices with it, other OEMs have simply not paid enough attention. Vivo, for instance, hasn’t rolled out the Android 8.0 OTA or beta to any of its phones till now. However, a new post on Vivo’s forum says that seven devices will receive the Android 8.0 Oreo-based Funtouch OS. The rollout will begin from April 2018.

The Vivo X20 will get the beta update of Android Oreo and then the others will follow. Other phones including the X20 Plus, X9s, X9s Plus, Xplay6, X9 and X9 Plus, will receive the update after the X20.

Android Oreo is coming to Vivo devices

The update will bring features like picture-in-picture mode, adaptive icons, new notification panel and a redesigned settings menu. New emojis, autofill for passwords, faster boot times and notification dots are also expected to be seen on the above-mentioned devices after the update.

Nothing is known about the update’s global release as of now. On top of that, the company hasn’t announced anything about its Indian offerings. Will the phones like Vivo V7+, V7, V5 etc remain stuck on their existing Android versions? Only time will tell.
