The China-based smartphone company has claimed to double its shipments in India in 2017, they have increased shipments compared to last year. Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is also gaining importance and acceptance in India, recently Honor launched the Honor 9i in India. What actually helped gain acceptance in India are the Honor 6X and Honor 8 Pro which is very well received.
George Zhao (Honor’s President) said in s statement, that the company has shipped 98% smartphones in India this year. This percentage is more than last years count. Honor is working in progress to introduce AI based smartphones which the company wants to launch by next year.
P Sanjeev (Vice President of Sales) said: “India is a key market for Honor and we will bridge the gap between our global and India launches going forward. We are looking to time our India launches in tandem with the global launch and going by that, we should be seeing the new AI phones in India as soon as they are launched in the overseas market”.
December 5 is all set to be marked as the day Honor 7X is going to be released in India via Amazon. The phone has a 5.93-inch full HD display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It has thin bezels and is available in three variants, 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB which can further expand up to 256 GB via micro SD card. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset with a 3,340 mAh battery backup. It runs on Android Nougat 7 with a 16 MP back camera and an 8 MP front camera.
Xiaomi has recently been ranked the number one smartphone manufacturer in terms of market share. It is neck to neck with Samsung and Huawei is not far behind. The rapid growth in demand for the Honor 6X and Honor 8 Pro has recorded a generous sales revenue from India. India still remains to be the second largest market in smartphones after China. China has been steady enough to maintain the top spot.
