Galaxy S9 Plus Purple Lilac shade

Samsung has confirmed the launch of the Galaxy S9/S9+ flagship phones on 25th February. The phones have been leaked several times and all the major specs have already been revealed. Some speculations state that the two phones will be the most expensive Galaxy devices ever. Let’s delve deep into all the main leaks and rumours around the Galaxy S9 lineup here:

Galaxy S9/S9+ leaks: price

The Galaxy S9 duo has been speculated to the most expensive flagship by Samsung so far. A Twitter tipster, Ricciolo, revealed it in his tweet some time ago and since his leaks are factually correct most of the times, we have reasons to believe that this one is too. Watch this video for all leaks and rumours at one place:

Will Samsung launch the two phones at a higher price? This question has been baffling our minds for a long time. It is worth noticing that the Galaxy S8 was launched at a price of $700 in 2017 while the Galaxy S8+ came in at $800. The latter was launched in a 256GB ROM variant which costs a whopping $1000. So, can we really expect a price tag higher than $1000? Only time will tell.

Galaxy S9/S9+ leaks: colours

The Galaxy S9 duo is also likely to come in multiple and attractive colour variants. The phones have been leaked to land in a completely new Purple Lilac shade. The information was leaked by Evan Blass, the most credible tipster so far.

The phones will arrive in Midnight Black, Titanium Grey, Coral Blue and Purple Lilac colours. The last one of these has been speculated to be a special edition. It seems like Samsung is leaving no stone unturned to sell the Galaxy S9 and S9+ to the consumers.

Galaxy S9/S9+ leaks: specifications and more

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ leaked through a retail box last month. We came to know quite a bit about their specs and features. Primarily, the optics specs of the smaller phone came into light through this leak which suggested the presence of a 12MP rear and an 8MP front shooter. The leak also revealed an improved iris scanner and a support for wireless charging.

A few weeks after this leak, came another one which gave us information about the NPU of the two devices. The phones were revealed to carry an iPhone X-like NPU in addition to the processor and GPU, as it can analyze, store, and process data without using a cloud server. The NPU chip also supports AI-based tasks and it was rumoured that they will come with the Galaxy S9 and S9+. The leak also hinted on better AI capabilities of the two devices.

Some days after the above leak, two videos of the devices popped up on Weibo. One of them was a hands-on video which basically told us about the 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch SUPER AMOLED display of the Galaxy S9 and S9+, respectively. The phones were also shown to have thin bezels along the sides and a higher screen to body ratio. The fingerprint sensor was also revealed to be placed beneath the rear camera setup. The S9+ was shown to have a dual rear camera setup while the S9 had a single back shooter. The video also showed Android Oreo running on the phones.

Official renders leaked

Then came the biggest and the official leak of the two devices. The phones leaked in press renders and nothing much was left to our imagination. The screen sizes of the phones were proven true and the presence of the Snapdragon 845 SoC was confirmed. Along with this the dual 12MP + 12MP camera sensors, the S9+ was revealed to have an 8MP selfie shooter. The Galaxy S9 was revealed to have a single 12MP shooter on the back.

DBrand leaked the phones through renders again and we could clearly see the front panel of the two devices. The Bixby Assistant was placed on the right while the volume rockers and the power button sat on the left side. The leak also confirmed the position of the fingerprint sensor. The S9 will have a 4GB variant while the S9+ will start from 6GB of RAM.

The phones then leaked again to reveal that the Galaxy S9 will release with the Sony IMX345 sensor. The Sony IMX345 has a 1/2.55-inches sensor size, and the industry first variable aperture of f/1.5 – f/2.4. Hence, it will become the first phone by Samsung to have a variable aperture which adjusts itself according to each situation. The battery capacity of the S9 will be 3100mAh while the S9+ will have a 3600mAh battery. Both the phones will come with a support for USB Type-C v3.1.

Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ leak: 3D Emoji feature

The Galaxy S9 and S9+ have an uncanny resemblance to their predecessors, a new leak on Reddit has confirmed. The phones will carry a stereo speaker, one at the bottom of the device and another in the earpiece. However, the old rumour of Samsung copying the animoji feature of Apple has been proven false. The leak states that the 3D emojis on the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are a mix between animoji and bitmoji feature.

Galaxy S9/S9+: Launch date

Hence, we have pretty much figured the two phones out. They will have the same front design as the Galaxy S8 and S8+. The updates will primarily be in the camera department, processor and their AI abilities. The phone will be announced on 25th February and are likely to go on sale from 16th March onwards.
