Samsung Galaxy S21 5G series is here, the much-anticipated flagships of 2021 are now official. After numerous leaks and rumours, the new flagship series is finally revealed through an online-only Galaxy Unpacked event. The Galaxy top tier phones come with powerful processors, new cameras along with new camera modules. The new Galaxy S21 series comprise — Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra. On the other hand, Samsung has also introduced Galaxy Buds Pro along with the flagship series.
Samsung Galaxy S21 5G series — Galaxy S21 and S21+
Both the Galaxy S21 and the S21+ share identical specifications apart from the display measurements, colours, build, and battery. Firstly, in terms of screen size, the Galaxy S21 comes in 6.2-inches and 6.7-inches Full HD+ resolutions. They feature Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O displays. They support 120Hz refresh rates and also feature adaptive refresh rates ranging from 48-120Hz. They are further HDR10+ certified, however, these displays are no longer curved and come with flat-screen panels.
Under the hood, both the devices feature Exynos 2100 chipsets, which achieve clock speeds of up to 2.9GHz. The SoC further equips integrated 5G modem, which makes the Galaxy S21/S21+ 5G capable. The storage options include 8GB RAM and 128/256GB of internal storage.
The new Contour-cut module comprises triple rear cameras, which blends to device metal frame on the back. There’s a 12MP wide-angle camera paired with 12MP ultra wide-angle camera and a 64MP telephoto sensor with Phase detection AF. On the front, the punch hole cutout hosts a 10MP dual pixel autofocus selfie shooter.
While many of the specs match on both Galaxy S21 and S21+ devices, they certainly differ in battery capacities. The Galaxy S21 features a 4000mAh battery and the S21+ equips a 4800mAh battery. They additionally come with improved wireless charging speeds utilising Fast wireless charging 2.0. Further, the devices ship with Android 11 based OneUI 3.0 out of the box. The other highlights of the devices include 5G, NFC, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and IP68 water resistance.
Samsung Galaxy S21 5G series — Galaxy S21 Ultra
The Galaxy S21 Ultra is surely the premium in the lot. It comes with a 6.8-inches Edge QHD+ screen, which is also an Infinity-O display and is HDR10+ certified. It also comes with adaptive 120Hz refresh rate support. Unlike the Galaxy S21/S21+, the display here comes with curved edges, which seamlessly integrate to the new contour cut camera module, which further attaches to the metal frame on the back.
On the plus side, for the very first time, Samsung is announcing S Pen support for the Galaxy S series device, which is the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The S Pen, however, doesn’t come included in the box. It is sold separately.
The Ultra also features Exynos 2100 SoC but in the storage options, the device features 12/16GB of RAM (LPDDR5) and either 128/256/512GB of onboard storage. It also ships with Android.
The rear cameras on the Galaxy S21 Ultra feature a quadruple-camera system. There’s a bigger 108MP f/1.8 sensor acting as the primary sensor, followed by 12MP ultra wide-angle camera, 10MP telephoto lens and another 10MP telephoto sensor as well. Samsung is also adding a Laser AF sensor with 100x space zoom. The front camera on the Ultra is also a bigger 40MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture.
The Ultra packs in a massive 5000mAh battery capacity, which supports both fast wired and wireless charging capabilities. The other highlights of the Ultra include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth and also IP68 water resistance rating.
Samsung Galaxy S21 5G series — Pricing and Availability
The Galaxy S21 5G starts at Rs 69,999 and the Galaxy S21+ at Rs 81,999 and the Galaxy S21 Ultra costs Rs 1,05,999. All these will be available for sale in India starting from January 29th across all the offline and online stores. As for the colours options, the Galaxy S21/S21+ features in Phantom Violet/Pink and Phantom Grey/White. The Ultra comes in Phantom Black/Silver.
