Samsung has announced its first 5G Galaxy F series phone in the country — the Galaxy F42 5G that comes with 12 5G bands support. After the successful Galaxy M52 5G launch yesterday, the company now brings the new Galaxy F42 with 5G capabilities. It starts at an introductory price of Rs 17,999 (6GB+128GB), ahead of Flipkart’s Big Billion Day festival that commences on October 3rd. The other storage variant also has a special price of Rs 19,999 (8GB+128GB).

According to Samsung, both the units will be available for this special price for a limited period on Flipkart. The official launch price however differs: the base variant of the Galaxy F42 5G starts at Rs 20,999 and Rs 22,999 for the larger storage variant.

Display and Design

The Galaxy F42 5G sports a larger 6.6-inches display with Full HD+ resolution. The Infinity-V display also comes with a 90Hz refresh rate, for a smoother experience across the UI and during gameplay. The display encloses a slightly textured finish on the rear, which also features a tiny square camera module. The device equips a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, for authentication, alongside volume rockers sitting next to it. The Galaxy F42 5G comes in two color variants: Matte Aqua and Matte Black.


On the inside, the device is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC, the 5G mid-range SoC with promised clock speeds of up to 2.2GHz. For graphics, it utilizes Arm Mali-G57 GPU. The chipset also delivers a wide range of 5G spectrum with support to 12 5G bands — N1, N3, N5, N7, N8, N20, N28, N66, N38, N40, N41, and N78. In terms of storage, the device offers either 6GB or 8GB of RAM with 128GB of onboard storage. Further, the device ships with Android 11-based OneUI 3.1 out of the box.


As suggested in the title, the Galaxy F42 brings in a triple rear camera setup: comprising a 64MP primary sensor, a 5MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, the Infinity-V display beholds an 8MP selfie shooter. The primary rear camera features a dedicated Night mode for low light photography, which promises brighter photos and vivid pictures; the ultra-wide sensor has a 115-degree field of view. There are several other camera modes like Hyperlapse, Slow Motion, Panorama, to name a few.
