We have been promised a foldable phone from the smartphone industry from the past year or so. Recent developments would imply that none are as close to delivering on that promise than Samsung, with the Seoul-based OEM showcasing prototypes behind closed doors at the global CES show. Today, some more nuggets of info have dropped in regarding the evasive device. And you’re probably not going to like it.
As per South China Morning post, Samsung is tipped to launch the foldable phone next year, and the first half of next year, to be exact. The same report quotes an analyst,
“Parts affiliates and first-tier subcontractors will begin supplying parts to Samsung Electronics’ handset division beginning in November, at the earliest, with the company assembling the phone aiming for a launch next year,” said Park Hyung-woo, analyst at Shinhan Financial.
Samsung Foldable Phone Specifications & Price
The innovative foldable phone will be 7.3-inch in size that will fold inwards to become two 4.5-inch. In terms of specs, it should resemble the Galaxy S10, speaking of which, Samsung might debut the handset early to make the stage for the foldable phone at MWC 2019. That means the Galaxy S10 might get an early curtain raiser in January. Another researcher, Kim Jang-yeol, suggested this rare handset will cost an eye-popping $1850, or worth two Samsung flagships.

Further, Samsung although will be selling the bendable phone across the globe, it aims to create limited numbers – between 300,000 and 500,000 units. This is similar to what the OEM did with the Note Edge to assess the market reaction of the product.
