Rumours regarding the iPhone SE 2’s imminent arrival are now too many to be disregarded. Reports have been going around since last year but it looks like we might get a launch next month. Launch dates aside, a new report throws light on what the phone could have in stock for buyers.
The source of the new rumour is an iPhone case maker at the Global Sources Mobile Electronics tradeshow in Hong Kong. Besides the launch date, the case maker believes the iPhone SE 2 will inherit a lot of its predecessor’s traits. This also means we’ll see a similar size and form factor. However, Apple’s push to eliminate the 3.5mm jack will continue and the iPhone SE 2 will probably not have one. The company report also discusses the possibility of wireless charging that should accompany a glass-design. But that is not entirely confirmed.
More importantly, Apple is rumoured to be using the A10 Fusion chip inside the iPhone 7 for the upcoming mini iPhone. This would be a cost-cutting measure to bring down the prices of the phone. Also, Touch ID should also be saved from getting the axe because of the same low-price priority of Apple.
According to Apple Insider, Apple doesn’t provide such sensitive information to inexpensive case makers as the source here. Hence, it remains to be seen whether this report holds any water at all. As for Apple, the company is yet to say anything regarding the launch of the handset.
