Redmi 9 Power is now official in the Indian market. As expected, it’s a dubbed version of the Redmi Note 9 4G launched earlier in the Chinese market. While both prominently share identical specs, the Redmi 9 Power comes with an additional camera and different storage options. It’s a new addition to the current Redmi 9 series portfolio and falls under the sub– xxx segment.
Redmi 9 Power — Design and Specs
On the design front, the Redmi 9 comes with 6.53-inches Dot drop display up in the centre of the display. It features Full HD+ resolution with a brightness of up to 400 nits. The display also gets TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light, Widevine L1 certifications and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. The display encloses in Redmi’s Aura design aesthetic which claims to be splash-proof. And, the device additionally equips rubberised and corrosion-proof ports.
Under the hood, like the Chinese variant, the Redmi 9 Power attains Snapdragon 662 SoC. It’s an octa-core CPU from Qualcomm with clock speeds of up to 2.0GHz. For graphics, the chipset comprises Adreno 610 GPU. It’s the very processor, which we have witnessed in the newest smartphones like — Moto G9 Power, and Nokia 5.4.
In terms of storage, the Redmi 9 Power features multiple storage variants with expandable storage options of up to 512GB. The variants include — either 4GB of RAM with 64GB of onboard storage or 4GB RAM with 128GB of storage. In comparison, the Chinese variant (Redmi Note 9 4G) featured up to 8GB RAM and 256GB of onboard storage options.
Redmi 9 Power — Cameras
Unlike the Note 9 4G, instead of triple rear cameras, the Redmi 9 Power comprises quadruple rear cameras. Meaning, we have an additional 2MP macro sensor on the Indian variant. The other sensors include a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP depth sensor.
The dot drop notch on the front that holds the selfie shooter comprises an 8MP selfie shooter, likewise from the Note 9 4G.
Redmi 9 Power — Battery
The device equips a massive 6000mAh battery underneath, which supports 18W fast charging. It charges through USB Type-C, and the company is providing a 22.5W adapter in the box. Further, the device supports reverse wired charging aka OTG charging, just like the Chinese variant.
The other highlights of the device include — a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers with Hi-Res audio certification, and ships with MIUI 12 (Android 10). The connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, an IR Blaster, a 3.5mm headphone jack and Dual 4G.

Redmi 9 Power — Pricing
The Redmi 9 Power comes in four — Mighty Black, Blazing Blue, Fiery Red and Electric Green colour variants. The Redmi 9 Power pricing starts at Rs 10,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB variant. And, the larger 4GB+128GB costs Rs 11,999. The first sale of both variants start on December 22nd. They will be available across Mi online and offline stores alongside Amazon India.
