Redmi 10 Prime is now official in the country. The budget series smartphone, which is the successor to Redmi 9 Prime, launched last year, is bringing several new changes when compared to the predecessor. It has a bigger battery, a high refresh rate screen, a new design, a different set of cameras, and a new MediaTek chipset, which is debuting in India with this handset.
Redmi 10 Prime — Design and Display
The Redmi 10 Prime features an all-new design when compared to the predecessor but is reminiscent of the Redmi Note 10 Series, launched a while ago in the country. It comes with a punch-hole display and on the rear the device sports three colours: Astral White, Bifrost Blue, and Phantom Black. On the front, the Redmi 10 Prime has a 6.5-inches screen with Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz adaptive refresh rate. The display is further protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top.

The Redmi 10 Prime equips a MediaTek Helio G88 SoC, the latest from the chipset maker. It is an octa-core processor comprising two Cortex A75 and six Cortex A55 (s); with promised clock speeds of up to 2.0GHz. For graphics, it utilizes Arm Mali-G52 GPU. The device further accompanies up to 6GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of onboard storage. There’s expandable virtual RAM expansion also available for up to 2GB. The Redmi 10 Prime ships with Android 11-based MIUI 12.5.
The Redmi 10 Prime has a quad rear camera setup; featuring a 50MP f/1.8 primary camera, an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120-degree field of view, a 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth camera. The rear cameras support modes such as Night Mode, Pro Mode, Panorama, AI Scene Detection, Pro Color, to name a few. For videos, there’s support up to 1080p recording at 30fps; coupled with 720p slo-mo video recording at 120fps.
On the front, the selfie camera in the punch hole has an 8MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture and support for photography modes comprising Auto HDR, AI Scene detection, and more. The front sensor also supports 1080p video recording at 30fps.
The Redmi 10 Prime has a massive 6000mAh battery capacity that charges through USB Type-C; supports 18W fast charging. And, the company is including a 22.5W charge adapter in the retail packaging.
The other highlights of the device include dual stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The connectivity options include GPS, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, and supports dual 4G, and there’s a microSD expansion option also available.
Redmi 10 Prime — Price in India
The Redmi 10 Prime starts at Rs 12,499 for the base 4GB+64GB variant, and the larger 6GB+128GB costs Rs 14,499. The first sale of the models starts on September 7th and will be available through the Xiaomi India website, and Amazon India.
