Realme 8i debuts with MediaTek Helio G96 SoC and 50MP AI Triple-rear camera in India

Realme 8i

Realme 8i is now official in the country. It is the new affordable model in the Realme 8 series that comes with a 120Hz refresh rate display and debuts a new MediaTek processor in the market. The Realme 8i costs Rs 13,999 for the base variant, and the larger storage variant retails at Rs 15,999. The device was announced alongside the Realme 8s 5G in the country.

Realme 8i — Display

The display on the device measures 6.6-inches and comes with Full HD+ resolution. The display has up to a six-level refresh rate that starts at 30Hz and top-up at 120Hz. It further has 100% DCI-P3 colour space, a 180 Hz touch sampling rate, and achieves peak brightness of up to 600 nits. The phone comes in two colours: Space Black, and Space Purple. The device also has a sleek form factor that weighs around 194 grams and measures 8.5mm in thickness. For authentication, the power button also acts as a fingerprint sensor.

The Realme 8i has a new MediaTek’s latest Helio G96 processor, underneath. It is a 12 nm processor with two large A75 cores and promised clock speeds of up to 2.05GHz. With the predecessor, the Realme 7i, in comparison, the new SoC ought to be bringing 51% CPU improvements, and a 91% increase in GPU performance. The device further comprises 4GB of RAM and a 64GB onboard storage model. Then there’s the 6GB+128GB model, which further supports 5GB of virtual RAM. Moreover, there is a microSD expansion available with Realme 8i for up to 256GB. The device ships with Android 11 based realme UI 2.0 out of the box.


The Realme 8i has a 50MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and HDR support. It is a 5P lens that promises to secure enough light and makes pictures appear brighter. It further accompanies a 2MP B&W lens, and a 2MP macro lens. On the front, there’s an AI-powered 16MP selfie shooter with features such as AI beauty, HDR, Panoramic View, and more.


There is a 5000mAh battery capacity powering the device. It charges through USB Type-C and supports 18W fast charging as well.

The other highlights of the device include dual-band Wi-Fi, support for Bluetooth 5.0, dual nano sim cards, microSD expansion, and VoLTE.
