POCO X3 Pro becomes the first device to utilize Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 860 SoC


POCO X3 Pro is launched globally featuring the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 SoC. The company is introducing the Pro variant as the next iteration to the POCO X3 smartphone. It shares identical design elements including the punch-hole display, and also a familiar circular rear camera module featuring quadruple rear cameras. However, the Pro variant brings in significant improvements under the hood when compared to the regular POCO X3 Pro. The device is also expected to launch in India next week with a launch scheduled for March 30th.

POCO X3 Pro — Display

The POCO X3 Pro has a 6.67-inches FHD+ Dot Display. It comes with a 20:9 aspect ratio and has a pixel density of 395ppi. The display features Dynamic refresh rates ranging from 50Hz to 120Hz. It is accompanied by a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The display has Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection on top. And, it also comes with L1 widevine certification for HD streaming on OTT platforms. The display encloses in a dual-tone finish on the rear along with a big POCO branding accompanied at the bottom. It features three colour variants comprising — Phantom Black, Metal Bronze, and Frost Blue. The POCO X3 Pro also comes with an IP53 rating that should save the device from water splashes.


POCO X3 Pro — Tech Specs

The POCO X3 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 860 SoC, which wasn’t announced before, but is debuting with this device. The Snapdragon 860 here also comes as the next iteration of the Snapdragon 855, Qualcomm’s flagship processor, in 2019. This doesn’t compete with the last year’s Snapdragon 865 or the latest 888 SoC, which are 5G chipsets. But POCO implies that the SD 860 is the leading 4G flagship processor of 2021. It is still built on a 7nm process and is an octa-core processor with clock speeds of up to 2.96GHz. The chipset features Adreno 640 GPU, for graphics.

The POCO X3 Pro equips up to 8GB of RAM (LPDDR4X) and up to 256GB of onboard storage (UFS 3.1). There’s an additional expandable storage option of up to 1TB. The device ships with Android 11 with MIUI 12 running on top of it.

POCO X3 Pro — Cameras

There is a quadruple rear camera system on the POCO X3 Pro. The 48MP acts as the main camera; there’s an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera further accompanied by a 2MP depth and a 2MP macro sensor. These rear cameras also support night mode along with dual video mode. For video, the rear cameras are capable of shooting up to 4K at 30fps. On the front, the device equips a 20MP f/2.2 selfie shooter.

POCO X3 Pro — Highlights

The other highlights of the device include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, NFC support for payments, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and dual speakers with Hi-Res audio certification.

POCO X3 Pro — Pricing and Availability

The POCO X3 Pro will be available for sale next week. The 6GB+128GB variant costs €249 (Rs 21,500 approx.) and the early bird pricing is set at €199 €249 (Rs 17,200 approx.). And, the larger 8GB+256GB variant comes at €299 €249 (Rs 25,800 approx.) with early bird pricing at €249 €249 (Rs 21,500 approx.).
