The POCO F1 launched with MIUI 9.6 out of the box but is now getting MIUI 10 with its first beta update. The handset had a number of software issues which were reported after the launch and POCO was quick to acknowledge them and issue a fix for some of them. The new company has been quite active on the software side of thing with the POCO F1. It recently released the kernel source code and also reduced the bootloader unlock time from the standard 15 days to 3 days. Here are the details of the MIUI 10 beta update.
POCO shared an MIUI Forum post declaring the beta update with version 8.9.13. The update can be used with the fast boot process and the POCO F1 must have an unlocked bootloader for it. The ROM tips the scales at 2.5GB and we will leave a link to it below. As for the changes, the new update fixes “OK Google” voice command bug and improves audio output via headphone jack while playing PUBG. It also fixes the notification panel not showing some app icons which was an annoying bug.
Do note that this is a beta MIUI 10 update after all and you could see other bugs and issues on your POCO F1 unit. If you’re fine with that, go ahead with the update. If not, it’s better to wait for the stable release of the MIUI 10. Xiaomi is already hard at work issuing MIUI 10 stable updates for the Redmi Note 5 Pro, Mi Mix, and Mi Mix 2 and we should see a stable version for the POCO F1 soon.
The POCO F1 was recently officially declared Quick Charge 4.0 – compliant and it also carries P2i certification for splash resistance.
