Google recently rolled out the November security update for its Pixel devices. The new update brings forth a couple of bug fixes along with performance improvements. Additionally, it also comes with the latest security patch. What’s more is that also focuses on battery saving with the help of the dark mode.
No November Security Update on Pixel?
While all this sounds good, the OG Pixel users are a set of users left fuming. This is simply because Google has still not released the November security update for the original Google Pixel device.
This is something quite unusual with Google’s way of handling security updates. The Pixel devices have always been the first ones to receive the latest Android updates and patches. However, that is not the case this time around. Google had published the November update for Pixel phones on November 5th. Unfortunately, the original Pixel and Pixel XL were not part of the list of devices receiving the new updates. This is quite surprising, considering that they are anyway scheduled to receive another year of security updates.
Google says it is in the works for the 2016 Pixel
With two weeks in and still no update for the original Pixel devices, the user community was obviously fuming. Thankfully, Google did finally come out with an official statement:
“The update currently rolling out to Pixel devices is in final testing for the 2016 Pixel. We will begin once we are confident the update is ready” – Google.
While there is no clear indication on the timeline, one can expect it to be released pretty soon. Google says that it is in the “final testing” phase, so stay tuned for the update. As always, Mr. Phone will be reporting when the update is out, so keep a watch on this space.
