OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G

OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G has finally arrived in the Indian market. The latest 5G phone from the company’s Reno series has earlier seen its launch in the Chinese market. OPPO India is now introducing this year’s top tier smartphone — the Reno5 Pro 5G with the new camera and video technologies, new design aesthetics, and a powerful MediaTek processor, underneath. This new phone comes as the successor to the OPPO Reno4 Pro smartphone, which came with a quadruple-camera and high refresh rate displays.

OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G — Design and Display

The Reno5 Pro 5G arrives in a 6.5-inches 3D borderless screen, meaning it features significantly lower bezels. It comes in FHD+ resolution, punch hole cutout, and like its predecessor, it has a 90Hz refresh rate display (180Hz touch-sampling rate) as well. The display achieves a screen to body ratio of 92.1% and is also HDR10+ certified. Besides, there’s SGS Eye Care Display certification too. And, there’s an in-display fingerprint sensor, coupled with face unlock, for authentication.

On the design front, the Reno5 Pro 5G features OPPO’s Reno Glow process technology on the back. It is a new AG glass process developed by OPPO, which brings in a shimmering effect on the back with a matte finish and further features a pyramid structure when you look closer. These tend to work together to reduce fingerprints and grease and claims to slide water droplets on the rear of the device. The Reno5 Pro 5G comes in two colour variants — Astral Blue and Starry Black.

OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G — MediaTek 5G chipset

The Reno5 Pro 5G, underneath, comprises a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+. The 7nm processor comes with an octa-core GPU with clock speeds of up to 2.6GHz. The 5G integrated SoC that powers the device claims to be bringing 58% higher CPU and 181% higher GPU performance when compared to the predecessor. On the storage, the Reno5 Pro equips an 8GB of RAM and 128GB on internal storage.

OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G — Imaging system

The Reno5 Pro 5G has a quadruple-camera setup on the rear comprising — a 64MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, the punch hole beholds a 32MP selfie shooter. The Reno5 Pro 5G with pixel binning can capture photos in 108MP resolution. For night photography, the cameras support ultra night selfie mode, ultra-dark mode, and night flare portrait mode.

For videos, the rear cameras support up to 4K video recording at 30fps while the selfie camera supports up to 1080p at 30fps.

OPPO is bringing its new video system — Full Dimension Fusion (FDF) video system, which claims to be an industry first. The system utilises Reno5 Pro’s camera hardware, software coupled with smart algorithms, which claim to significantly improve video quality and portrait effects.

The new video system further integrates AI Highlight Video, which promises exceptional video quality with the application of smarter algorithms, automatically. This implementation is based on lighting conditions, like low light and backlit for both front and rear cameras.

And, then there’s additional Dual-view Video. AI Colour portrait and monochrome video modes as well. The Dual-view video mode allows users to capture video recording on both front and rear cameras simultaneously giving users a split video mode. The AI Color portrait lets users apply B&W filters to the background keeping the subject in colour with real-time preview.

The monochrome mode allows users to try three different video filters with which they can only highlight the reds, greens and blues in a video. Lastly, there are ultra steady video 3.0 and 960fps slow-motion video recording modes, which are pretty much self-explanatory.

OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G — Battery

The latest 5G OPPO device equips a decent 4350mAh battery capacity, which charges via USB Type-C. It further supports the company’s 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 flash charge technology as well.

The other highlights of the OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G include Android 11-based ColorOS 11.1 out of the box, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, 5G and Dual-SIM support.

The OPPO Reno 5 Pro 5G retails at Rs 35,990 in India. It will be available in aforementioned single storage variant. The device will be available for purchase starting from January 22nd.
