OPPO is going through a resurgence. With a newly redesigned logo and a colorful identity around Reno 10x Zoom – the company’s latest flagship phone – the brand has been creating the right kind of noise. Which is why, when OPPO announced that it was launching the phone in India, I was stoked to use it and find out everything that was cool with it.
In fact, OPPO has convinced me to switch to Reno 10x Zoom as my daily driver. I’ve been using the latest flagship phone with great specs for a while now and have a lot to talk about it. Let’s get right down to it.
Cameras that can zoom, zoom, zoom baba
Talking about my favorite part of the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom is well…the 10x zoom capability of the phone. The 48 MP primary lens, 8 MP Wide angle lens and the 13 MP telephoto lens that uses periscope-like assembly. All these lenses work in tandem to each other to provide a focal length of 16-160 mm thereby providing 10x hybrid zoom. This opens up a ton of possibilities and gives me a lot of versatility as it helps me crop into far away subjects without any loss of details. The best part is that it is optically-stabilized. And that means I don’t have to worry about soft shots either. Here are some of our favorite pictures from the phone captured using the 10x zoom.
That’s not it since I am a trained Carnatic vocalist, I love to attend many concerts and capture them on my phone. The Reno’s video recording chops are pretty formidable too. I could record crisp and 1080p 30fps videos with the optical image stabilization doing a great job with the stabilization. And, you know what. With the video recording, you also get a Focus Sound recording feature that can individually capture the sound of the action in focus. It works really well.
Obviously, no concert is complete without a selfie. And, every time I pop open that shark-fin selfie camera. It is another first introduced by OPPO and people are in awe of the whole mechanism. It works pretty fast as well to be used as face unlock. This is by far the coolest thing about the Reno 10x Zoom.
Loudspeakers and impressive display
My mornings begin with the alarm buzzing and waking me up and, generally, it takes me about 5-6 alarms to wake up. OPPO Reno 10x Zoom’s Dolby Atmos stereo speaker setup is super loud. I mean extremely loud. All it took was one alarm to wake me up.
Now, the first thing I do in the morning is getting my cup of tea. And obviously, I open up my news feed for tech updates of the day, and I cannot even begin to explain how much I love the fully bezel-less AMOLED display. The text goes right to the edges and it looks futuristic in your hand. The 6.6-inch AMOLED panel with the DCI-P3 color gamut offers more colors as well. Text and images look crisp and the colors pop right at you. Pro tip: let the Night Mode be on during the day as well to make sure you don’t hurt your eyes during that morning routine.
P.S. Both the Ocean Green and Jet Black color variants are gorgeous and there is no camera bump on the back panel either. It looks so damn good. I can keep looking at it all day.
Looks good and makes your videos look good too
On my way to work is when I consume most of my video content, I binge on episodes of Brooklyn 99 and Stranger things during my travel, and the AMOLED display just reels me in. Honestly, when it comes to watching videos on my phone I prefer the AMOLED panels over LCD, no matter how good it is. The fact that it also comes with Gorilla Glass 6 protection means I don’t have to worry about using a screen protector, in case it falls out of my hand. But, I wasn’t really worried because of OPPO packs in a very sturdy and good looking case in the box that protects the phone from damage in case of a fall.
Tailor-made for gaming
Once I get to work, I am generally hustling throughout the day with our editorial meetings and shooting our videos. Now, in between those work hours, it would be a sin really to not sneak out and play. Our PUBG sessions are now slowly converting to COD sessions and to my utmost delight – Reno 10x Zoom is tailor-made for gaming. The Snapdragon 855 SoC inside the phone coupled with the Game Boost feature ensured that a noob like me could also land headshots with consummate ease.
My colleagues were genuinely surprised at how I was firing at a faster rate. Shh! Do not tell anyone. It is because the Reno 10x Zoom has a new feature called Touch Boost that improves the touch latency. Also, Reno 10x Zoom is equipped with Triple Cooling Control composed of Thermal Gel, Graphite, and Copper Pipe Cooling tech to effectively tackle heating issues and bettering the overall gaming experience.
Moreover, I also didn’t experience any compromises happening on the performance front, and my everyday usage was as smooth as I’d expected it to be.
VOOC 3.0 charges the phone faster than you expect it to
Now there are times when I’ve downloaded a few episodes of a show and I’m all ready to leave when I realised that my phone has barely any charge left. Well, with the Reno I have VOOC 3.0 charger which helps me get juiced up in no time. It is a big brick but it also makes sure that my phone doesn’t heat up so I can live with that. The best part is that OPPO has added a new tech in the circuitry that can also speed up the trickle charging speed in the end to reach 100% faster. Honestly, OPPO is leading when it comes to smartphone charging technology.
The most beautiful flagship
OPPO Reno 10x Zoom is a rock solid flagship phone that can easily replace any other flagship you fancy. The shark fin rising camera, the bezel-less display, and the 10x hybrid zoom make it look edgy and futuristic. Having said that, all of this futuristic smartphone tech has been packed and polished in a way that it feels a whole lot more mature now. I can’t wait for you guys to see one in action.
The pricing for the device is surely a bang for the buck! The base variant starts at Rs.39,990 & you get 128 GB of internal memory with 6GB of RAM. The top variant gets 256GB of internal memory topped up with 8GB of RAM and is priced at Rs.49,990.
