If there’s one smart device brand that has caught on to the pulse of Indian consumers, it’s undoubtedly OPPO. Over the years, the brand has devised a massive portfolio of compelling smart device offerings, and introduced innovative technologies one after the other. In its impressive lineup of high-end flagships, the company has recently launched the Find X2. The device is the newest contender in the premium space and has quickly become the talk of the town.
Why, you might wonder? Well, this impressively crafted smartphone is first and foremost, a specs monster. You get the best 120Hz QHD+ Ultra Vision screen with 6.7-inch OLED panel QHD+ resolution, and support for 120Hz refresh rate and HDR 10+. You get a beefy SD865 chip inside with 5G support and a whopping 12GB of RAM. As for storage, there are 256 gigs of super-fast UFS 3.0 storage inside. But the icing on the cake is the 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 charging tech which can charge the Find X2 from 0 to 100% in just 38 minutes. This is the world’s first commercialized and fastest charging technology.
However, while all those specs are phenomenal, the one features that completely mesmerized us was the powerful set of triple cameras on the rear of Find X2 and a high-resolution selfie camera on the front. Let’s talk about them in detail.
Triple rear camera stack – a versatile player
Let’s talk about the triple camera stack on the rear. Firstly, you get a 48MP primary camera that uses the Sony IMX 586 sensor attached to a wide f/1.7 aperture 6P lens. A high megapixel sensor is crucial for squeezing in extra details from a shot and we’re glad to see that OPPO’s latest comes equipped with a flagship Sony sensor.
The second camera is a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera that uses the Sony IMX 708 sensor with an attached f/2.2 aperture 6P lens. This camera can not only go as wide as 120-degrees but it can go as close as 3cm of a subject in Macro mode. Therefore, be it capturing the scene on a bigger canvas, or edging inordinately close to the subject, the Find X2 can do it all.
And finally, you get a 13MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom, and up to 20x digital zoom. All three cameras support OPPO’s new and improved Night Mode 3.0 for better low light performance.
All said and done, this is a versatile setup that leaves no stones unturned as far as camera setup goes. But, what matters is the picture quality. And here, OPPO’s Find X2 just shines. Here are the takeaway points from our experience with the flagship Find X2’s cameras –
- Pictures shot in ample light or in daylight come out extremely sharp and crisp. The colours look pleasing too. You also get superior dynamic range performance
- In low light, the Night Mode 3.0 comes in handy and you can get some excellently lit up shots from all the three cameras.
- The macro shots look particularly detailed and the ultra-wide-angle shots are excellent for landscape shots. They look extremely crisp.
- Portrait shots can also do a great job of edge detection with a good blur on the background.
- That’s not it. The new Ultra Steady mode for shooting videos is phenomenally well stabilized. Even if you shoot with your hands, the end footage looks like it was shot on a tripod.
Trust us, these cameras won’t disappoint you one bit.
Selfie camera – 32 million pixels of fun
If there’s one thing that OPPO’s phones get right, it has to be the selfie camera. The selfies from the 32MP camera on the front look extremely appealing. You get natural face tones and plenty of details too. In fact, if you wish to, you can use the extended artificial intelligence-based beauty mode to make specific tweaks to different features on your face. For example, you can make your eyes wider or cheeks slimmer.
Moreover, the algorithm also supports Night Mode 3.0 for the front camera. Therefore, you can also take great-looking selfies in low light conditions. However, the one thing that impressed me the most is the Find X2’s 32MP front camera also comes with OIS. What this
means is you get stabilized video footage as well. Not many phones can boast of that feature actually.
Find X2 – the camera expert
The OPPO Find X2’s camera setup is not only versatile on paper but it is also very effective when you are shooting with it. If you do end up buying the Find X2, you are bound to enjoy using the cameras. Whether it is to shoot landscapes, portraits of human subjects, videos, or selfies, the Find X2 rarely ever disappoints. The device is priced at Rs 64,999 and goes on sale from June 23.
