Oppo has launched the much-awaited Oppo F7 in India today. The phone has entered the market as an upper mid-range device against the Vivo V9. The company has tried to perfect the selfie clicking ability of the phone to justify itself as a Selfie Expert. It has been launched at a price of Rs. 21,990 for 4G of RAM and 64GB of ROM variant. The phone will be available from April 9 on all offline and online stores.

For the first time, the brand will have a Flash Sale for the Oppo F7 on 2nd April 2018, just for 24 hours. The Flash Sale will be live at 777 Oppo stores across the country and only 10,000 phones will be up for grabs for this one day.

With this Flash Sale, fans will also get 5 percent cash back on purchases made through ICICI credit cards and up to Rs 1,200 cash back in 12 months. They will also enjoy an additional 120GB 4G data package with JIO and one-time free screen replacement within one year from our authorized service centres.

The Oppo F7 carries a significant 6.23-inch FHD+ display with the resolution of 1080 x 2280p. It has a 19:9 aspect ratio display with a screen-to-body ratio of 88 percent. The phone comes with a prominent notch design and minimum bezels along the sides. The selfie camera is integrated into the iPhone X-like notch as well. The device carries a glossy metal back and the company seems to be too proud of it. All in all, the Oppo F7 does look like a sturdy device.

The phone derives its power from the Helio P60 processor and it is known for its AI capabilities and efficient power saving with a 3400mAh battery. The general variants of the phone will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM. Rumours conclude that the Oppo F7 is just a renamed version of the Oppo R15, launched in China. The phone shares its processor and battery capacity with the latter. 

The Oppo F7 has been primarily launched as a phone with an excellent selfie camera. The 25MP selfie camera of the phone comes with AI Beauty technology 2.0, HDR, and group selfie beautification.

The front camera can even give individual beauty effects to each person in the group. The AI Beauty 2.0 technology scans 296 facial recognition points, a 20 percent improvement from the first-generation technology, allowing for a more precise and accurate facial recognition capability.

Now, a person’s age, gender, skin colour and skin type differences are detected – including for up to four individual subjects – in much greater detail. Oppo has also included AR Stickers in the package and has defined it as “Expanding the AI beauty technology to funny use”.

Apart from this, the main shooter on the phone can click some impressive shots in portrait mode/in-depth mode with its 16MP main shooter as well as the selfie camera.The AI technology helps distinguish the subject from its background while auto-adjusting camera settings in different situations.

Oppo has also included the Face Unlock feature in the package. The AI technology of the device can also sort your pictures out in albums, based on the people, places and events clicked. It’s like an intelligent album system which will help you in searching a picture among a thousand. 

Variants and special editions of the Oppo F7

Oppo F7 diamond black special edition

The phone comes in three colour variants: Solar Red, Moonlight Silver and a special Diamond Black. The Diamond Black edition will be priced at Rs. 26,990 and will be available at selected Oppo Stores. The back of this edition looks identical to a black diamond with those stylish and elegant cuts. The RAM on the special edition Sunrise Red and Diamond Balck Oppo F7 is 6GB while the internal storage is 128GB.

The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColourOS 5.0. The OS is gesture-based and it will be interesting to see how it performs with the Face Unlock. The company is all set to enter the American and European markets in the latter part of 2018.
