Fitness trackers are becoming an essential part of our lives, especially now more than ever. As many of us are confined at home due to the pandemic leading to work from home scenarios; keeping a track of health and fitness is crucial as these can hinder and affect our physical activity day-to-day. And, having a reminder on your wrist to give you an alert regarding the same can be nifty, and this is where fitness trackers come in. They usually do not add bulk to your wrist, like a smartwatch but they serve an essential purpose. Hence, we are seeing a plethora of fitness trackers options around. OPPO recently joined the bandwagon and introduced OPPO Band Style in India. OPPO has always been innovating products keeping it’s consumers in mind and the recent Band Style is truly amazing. It’s the first fitness tracking wearable after its OPPO Watch, and this one also has the unique feature of continuous SpO2 monitoring. This is so cool!
We had a chance to experience the latest OPPO Band Style in our regular work and here is our take on it.
OPPO Band Style – A true health partner with SpO2 monitoring
The OPPO Band Style, as aforementioned, has essential fitness features; including continuous SpO2 monitoring, heart rate monitor, twelve workout modes, sleep tracking and breathing exercise modes as well.
The SpO2 monitoring has been crucial now more than ever — unfortunately due to the pandemic. But all thanks to OPPO Band Style with continuous SpO2 monitoring that lets you keep a check on all health parameters anytime, anywhere. It measures your blood oxygen saturation levels though your skin by passing light through it, which is quite fast on the OPPO Band Style. The device also is equipped with the sleep monitoring feature to keep a check on the user’s sleep structure (sleep duration at night, deep sleep, light sleep). It also tracks your sleep quality at the same time help you to analyze your sleep problems.
Heart rate monitoring on the latest OPPO Band Style is no less. We found that the device does Real-Time Heart Rate Monitoring and sends alerts when the rate is too high or too low.
Your cool workout partner
The prominent feature on any fitness band including the latest OPPO Band Style has to be tracking your workouts. To achieve that, the band comprises up to 12 workout modes, which should help you keep fit in current confined to home scenarios. It need not be hitting the gym and carrying weights; rather it can be a casual walk or a run, for that matter. The OPPO Band Style here helps you track that activity by connecting with your phone’s GPS. The activity modes on the band comprise; Outdoor run, indoor run, outdoor walk, fat burn run, cycling outdoors, cycling indoors, elliptical trainer, rowing machine, and sport modes like cricket, Swimming, Yoga and badminton.
I am an average outdoor working out person hence I opted out for an outdoor walk, and occasionally outdoor run as well. The Band Style does a good job of tracking the steps and activity; alongside measuring the calories burned. This is a super useful feature if you are into a daily routine of completing steps or burning calories. On the OPPO Band Style, there is also a Daily Activity section, wherein you can have a glance at steps, calories, workout, and as well as activity. Besides, there’s breathe mode which lets you do breathing exercises; like inhaling and exhaling and there’s a timer that can be set for it too.
Stunning display and looks to drool upon
The OPPO Band features a 2.79cm (1.1”) AMOLED screen, and it produces deeper blacks alongside showcasing multi-colours too when it comes to watch faces. The Band Style also has a 2.5D curved-surface scratch-resistant tempered glass to stop worrying about damaging the screen. The screen has adjustable brightness options ranging from 20%-100%, and configuring it to somewhere in between the range can be bright enough to view in broad daylight quite swiftly.
Talking about the interface, it’s pretty straightforward on the smaller screen. A single tap on it can showcase your time, date, step count, for instance. It also depends on which watch face you’ve selected in your app. The app called ‘HeyTap Health’ needs to be installed on your Android smartphone (Android 6.0 and above). The OPPO Band pairs with your smartphone through Bluetooth and in the respective app; you can find around 40 watch faces, which you can set easily; and can also have a glance at your fitness activity. The OPPO Band Style comes in two colour variants; Black, and Vanilla. In our testing, we used the Black variant.
Your consistent health companion
OPPO Band surely helps anyone to stay fit, healthy and active — thanks to its workout modes, heart rate and SpO2 monitoring features. With key scenarios, like fat burn run mode for people who are looking for weight loss, or who want to track their fitness activity during sports like badminton or cricket, this OPPO Band Style is an ideal choice. In comparison with other bands out there — the new-style strap significantly differentiate the OPPO Band Style.
The extra perks on the Band Style includes setting timers, alarms, music controls, view notifications. One of the most important perk is that the Band Style is also comes with 5 ATM water resistance upto 50 meters. My personal favourite among the features that OPPO Band Style offers is the inactivity reminder. It alerts and encourages you to get up and start stretching a bit; if you’re sitting for a longer period, which is certain in these work from home scenarios. With the multiple workout modes, health monitoring features, and this inactivity reminder, OPPO Band Style had surely kept me active during the brief period we had spent with it.
