Nubia, ZTE’s sub-brand specialising online presence has announced a world’s first wearable phone that will be commercially available. Yes, that is what the company has been teasing about its latest wearable device. Marketed as a wearable phone, the new Nubia Alpha is really a smartwatch with an amazing number of features that you see on a smartphone. Okay, that might be not easy to understand, let’s brief you about this unique device. 

What is Nubia Alpha?

It is the world’s first mass-market wearable smartphone with a flexible wrap-around display. The company teases that its quite sleek and is designed keeping in mind the practicality of using a phone on your wrist.  With a 4.01-inch flexible OLED display, it offers a 230% more screen area than any standard wearable device since it extends on the corners as well. The panoramic aspect ratio makes sure a complete immersive experience. 

Are you concerned with Nubia Alpha’s durability? 

The company claims that it has used 11 layers in the display for vibrant and durability over time. Further, the company claims that it offers a water-resistant feature. Rigorously tested in the lab for 100,000 plus screen flex, you don’t have to worry about the breakage I guess. The body is said to be made out of stainless steel. For a premium experience, it will come in black and gold (18k gold plated) variants.

Nubia Alpha specs 

It will be powered by Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor. It is said to be powered by a 500mAh capacity battery, with up to 48 hours of standby time. There is a magnetic charging connector through which it will get charged. The company claims that it will offer quick charging technology. 

Talking about the connectivity, it will offer Bluetooth texting and calling feature. There would be gesture interaction based navigation on this wearable smartphone from Nubia. Further, it will allow sleep tracking, music playback, and health assistant functionality built right into this wearable device. 

Note that it will have an eSIM functionality, which means there is no need for a physical SIM card. The connectivity will be supported by 4G internet and calling facility, which is being offered in partnership with China Unicom.
