Nothing ear (1) is now official in India and globally, including the US and the UK. The first commercial product from a tech startup, Nothing, which happens to be the true wireless earbuds, are now announced through an online event by Carl Pei via Unbox Therapy YouTube platform. For those unaware, former OnePlus co-founder Carl has later founded Nothing and now has come up with ear (1) earbuds since he has left the company. After much anticipation, the ear (1) buds launched at Rs 5,999 in the country.
Though the price was announced prior to the launch, the event has spilt more details on what the new earbuds would look like including the unique looking charging case. Further, the ear (1) will be available for purchase through Flipkart, starting from August 17th at noon.
Nothing ear (1) — Key features
The ear (1) buds to begin with come with a combination of transparency and plastic build. The buds themselves feature a transparent stem coupled with plastic and silicon tips featuring in White colour. Each ear tip here is colour coded with red and white, respectively, indicating left and corresponding right ears. The earbuds are said to be weighing 4.7 grams, and with the charging case included, the whole product weighs around 57.4 grams, adding a portability aspect.
There are touch, and slide controls, which are further customisable. Nothing has further confirmed that there would be a native app for both iOS and Android platforms. The compatibility includes devices running iOS 11 and above, Android 5.1 and above, respectively.
Nothing ear (1) — Internals
In terms of audio, the ear (1) comprises 11.6mm, dynamic drivers, with audio tuning done by Teenage Engineering, a Swedish consumer electronics company. The buds have AAC and SBC codec support and feature Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation. For better calls, the ear (1)s here feature three high definition microphones coupled with AI-powered ENC (environmental noise cancellation). The earbuds also feature Bluetooth version 5.2 for connectivity.
Nothing ear (1) — Charging
Apart from the distinctive looks of the ear (1) buds, the standout feature happens to be its charging case. This transparent looking squarish shaped charging case is meant to make users aware and make sure they’re carrying both the buds even in a hurry. The charging case here offers up to 34 hours of battery life with ANC off. And a good 24-hours with ANC on. The case here is also a wireless charging case that supports Qi-enabled chargers or USB Type-C chargers, in general.
The other highlights of the Nothing ear (1) buds include in-ear detection, support to A2DP, AVRCP, HFP Bluetooth profiles, IPX4 Splash Proof rating, fast pairing, and a wireless charging case included in the box.
