Nokia 8 to be launched in India on September 26

Nokia 8

HMD Global is all set to launch its current flagship – Nokia 8, in India on September 26. They have already started sending out media invites and the device got listed on Nokia India website. Nokia 8 was announced back in August and is currently on sale in Europe for £500 (Rs. 45,000).

Nokia 8 has a 6000 series aluminum shell with a polished mirror finish on the back. It comes with a 5.3-inch QHD IPS LCD display covered with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5, octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB UFS 2.1 internal memory with microSD expansion, a fingerprint scanner below the display, a 3090mAh non-removable battery and runs on Android 7.1 Nougat. It features a Type-C USB 3.1 gen 1 port for charging and data-syncing and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Nokia 8 comes with all necessary connectivity options including Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC. It is also IP54 rated (splashproof).

Highlighting feature of Nokia 8, according to HMD Global is its Zeiss branded dual 13MP rear camera setup. It consists of a 13MP color sensor and a 13MP monochrome sensor with PDAF, 1.12 μm pixel-size, f/2.0 aperture and a dual tone LED flash. The company is talking a lot about “bothies”, a feature which allows both the cameras at the front and back to capture images and videos at the same time. The front camera is also a 13MP sensor with PDAF, 1.12um pixel-size, f/2.0 aperture and 78.4˚ wide-angle view. Check out the full specifications here.

Nokia 8 will come in the following color options: Polished Blue, Tempered Blue, Steel and Polished Copper. It might go on sale during the festive season of Diwali. With Nokia 9 under its sleeves, I expect HMD Global to price the Nokia 8 sensibly. The company is also rumored to be working on a 6GB + 128GB variant of Nokia 8 for the US market.
