New Nvidia GeForce RTX Super series launched, starts at Rs. 34,890

After a plethora of leaks as well as official teasers from the company, Nvidia has finally launched the new GeForce RTX Super series GPUs. The GPUs are still based on the same Turing architecture boasting real-time ray tracing. These are basically an upgraded version of the 20-series RTX cards. That said, the new Super series comes with architectural and process optimizations. It gives them a slight boost over the standard RTX cards along with higher power efficiency.

Nvidia GeForce RTX Super features

According to the company, the Super lineup has better RTX performance with its Tensor cores. “The ecosystem driving real-time ray tracing is immense — tens of millions of GPUs, industry standard APIs, leading game engines and an all-star roster of game franchises,” said Jeff Fisher, senior vice president of the PC business at NVIDIA. “This killer lineup of SUPER GPUs delivers even more performance for demanding PC gamers and ensures that they’re prepared for the coming wave of real-time ray tracing blockbusters.”

In terms of improvements, the RTX 2060 Super is said to be up to 22 percent faster than the RTX 2060 and overall faster than the Pascal-based GTX 1080. It also gets a boost in RAM capacity of 2 GB, thus getting a total of 8 GB GDDR6 memory on the Super. The RTX 2070 Super is up to 24 percent faster than the RTX 2070 and overall, faster than the GTX 1080 Ti. Finally, the RTX 2080 Super gets a memory bandwidth boost to 15.56 Gbps and it’s now faster than the TITAN Xp.

Support for more games as well

Back when RTX was announced, only a handful of games had support for Ray Tracing. It included titles like Battlefield V, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Metro: Exodus. Now, Nvidia has also announced a list of more games to support ray tracing. This includes the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Control, Cyberpunk 2077, Doom Eternal, Sword and Fairy 7, Watch Dogs: Legion, and Wolfenstein: Youngblood.
