Moto G9 Power and Nokia 5.4 are the mid-range smartphones launched recently. These are initially launched in the European markets – with similar price points. While the Moto G9 Power had made its way to the Indian market already, the Nokia 5.4 from HMD Global is yet to arrive. Hence for comparison, we are considering both European variants, which will eventually foray into Indian markets, like the Moto G9 Power. These are brought to the table for comparison since they will compete in the ambitious below mid-range segment, which already has rivals from brands like Xiaomi, Realme, and Vivo.
Moto G9 Power Vs Nokia 5.4 – Display and Design
Both phones here feature a punch hole HD+ display; the selfie camera sits on the top left corner for both displays. Moto G9 Power could have a more notable advantage here since it has a bigger screen measuring 6.8-inches. The Nokia 5.4, on the other hand, comes with a 6.39-inches display. The aspect ratio on the Nokia 5.4 happens to be 19.5:9 whereas on the Moto G9 Power it features a 20.5:9 aspect ratio.
On the design front, both feature a plastic body build on the rear. Additionally, the Moto G9 Power comes with a water repellent design. However, on the back of these devices, they feature different camera modules. While the G9 Power comes with its signature square camera module featuring triple rear cameras, the Nokia 5.4 features a circular camera module with four cameras, a slight advantage over the Moto device.
Since we’re into the rear part of the device, both feature mounted fingerprint sensors under the camera modules. The Moto G9 Power’s colour options include — Metallic Sage (looks Green) and Electric Violet. On the Nokia 5.4, it comes in Polar Night (Blue) and Dusk (Purple).

Another primary reason for these devices to put under comparison is the chipset. Both feature a Snapdragon 662 SoC. It is an octa-core SoC from Qualcomm with clock speeds up to 2.0GHz and features Adreon 610 GPU for graphics. Both devices, however, alter in the storage options.
The Moto G9 Power European unit comes with 4GB of RAM 128GB of built-in storage with microSD expansion of up to 512GB. Meanwhile, the Nokia 5.4 arrives in 4/6GB of RAM and 64/128GB of onboard storage. It also features microSD expansion of up to 512GB. Readers have to bear in mind that the Moto G9 Power launched in India had 4GB and 64GB variants too.

While the tech specs under the hood appeared similar, the cameras certainly differ on both these devices. For example, the Moto G9 Power attains triple rear cameras with 64MP sensor acting as the primary camera. Also, it has 2MP depth and 2MP macro sensors. The Nokia 5.4 features quadruple cameras with — a 48MP camera acting as primary sensor coupled with a 5MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro and a 2MP depth-sensing camera.
While both the primary cameras on these devices utilize pixel binning. These rear cameras, on the whole, have their benefits. For instance, images taken on a 64MP sensor were proven to be better in exposure with less noise than the 48MP sensor, in general. Thanks to an 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens, the Nokia 5.4 has an advantage, a minus on the Moto G9 Power. Rest of the cameras are expected to perform the same regardless.
On the selfie cameras, however, both devices feature 16MP sensors on their respective punch-hole cutouts. Moto G9 Power comes with minimal AI benefits, like AI beauty and portrait mode when compared to the Nokia 5.4.
Moto G9 Power Vs Nokia 5.4 – Battery and Charging
In terms of battery, the Moto G9 Power has a huge advantage right off the bat, and the phone equips a massive 6000mAh battery that further supports Motorola’s 20W Turbo Charging. On the other hand, the Nokia 5.4 features a decent 4000mAh battery, which is 10W fast charge compatible. Both these devices charge through USB Type-C ports.
The other highlights on these devices include 4G, GPS, Wi-FI, Bluetooth 5.0 (on Moto G9 Power), Bluetooth 4.2 (on Nokia 5.4). As for NFC, both devices vary based on their regions. They also feature dedicated Google Assistant buttons. Lastly, for audio, the Moto G9 Power features Smart PA speakers, and the Nokia 5.4 equips Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive and OZO audio.
On the software front, both devices ship with stock Android out of the box. While the Nokia 5.4 ships with latest Android 11, the Moto G9 Power has additional Motorola tweaks, despite shipping with Android 10, which likely updates to Android 11, given Motorola devices’ history.

All in all, both Motorola Moto G9 Power and Nokia 5.4 appear alike on paper. But, there are significant differences between the two regarding design, display, and cameras. Nonetheless, considering the European pricing, both are similarly priced and offer similar features albeit Moto G9 Power has a large position when it comes to battery — as it has additional 2000mAh variation.
