Mi A2 Android 9 Pie update starts rolling out in India

Xiaomi might be focussing on the launch of the Redmi Note 6 Pro, but the company hasn’t forgotten about its previous devices. The Chinese giant recently launched the Mi A2 in India. The device, being part of the Android One programme, has been getting timely security patches and updates. However, one thing it has been missing out on lately is the update to Android 9 Pie. Thankfully though, it seems like we may finally have some good news on that front as well.

Mi A2 Android 9 Pie update

Xiaomi recently announced the Android 9 Pie Beta update for the Mi A2. However, just a couple of days later, it seems like the official stable build has been rolling out. While there has been no official word from the company, users have started sharing screenshots of their devices receiving the new Android 9 Pie update.

Mi A2 Android 9 Pie: what’s new

The new Android 9 Pie update brings a ton of features to the Mi A2. It brings along all of Android 9 Pie features such as app actions, slices, improved security features, selectable dark mode, easier text selection, and more. There is also Digital Wellbeing, along with better battery and RAM management. As for security, the Pie update also brings the latest November 2018 security patch.

How to get Android 9 Pie on Mi A2

The update seems to be a slow rollout. Unless you’ve unlocked your device’s bootloader, the Android 9 Pie update should arrive via an OTA to you. To manually check for the update, head over to Settings -> System Updates -> Check for Updates. What’s more is that you can increase your chances of getting the update by installing a VPN and changing your location to the Netherlands.

Well, considering the ill status of updates on the Mi A1, it is nice to see Xiaomi working hard on the Mi A2. Let us know if you got the Android 9 Pie update on your Mi A2, in the comments below.
