Mi 11 Ultra is now official in the country. Xiaomi India calls it a Super Phone as it is the true flagship smartphone offering by the company. After its recent launch globally, the Mi 11 Ultra now comes to India. Xiaomi doesn’t usually bring its flagships, which generally launch in the home country and globally, but not in India. It appears that’s going to change in 2021, as the company had now made it official in the country. In its ‘Into the future’ event, Xiaomi has announced its true flagship smartphone in the country. The key highlights of the device apart from the flagship specs; is its giant camera module on the back, which not only has two bigger primary cameras but also a secondary tiny display as well.
Mi 11 Ultra — it’s all about rear cameras
The giant module on the back comprises a 50MP TruePixel Custom GM2 sensor coupled with a 48MP ultra wide-angle camera and another 48MP telephoto sensor. The cameras are said to be offering wider focal length ranging from 12mm to 120mm. The primary 50MP is a custom GN2 sensor that offers a larger camera sensor with an individual pixel size of 1.4μm TruePixel. The ultra-wide sensor is capable of shooting with a 128-degree field of view. And, the 48MP telephoto is capable of shooting in 5x zoom and up to 120x digital zoom.
For video, the wide camera can capture up to 8K with 24fps, and 4K with 60fps. The telephoto camera further supports 8K as well, at 24fps and 4K at 60fps.
Besides, there’s a secondary display tucked on the side with these cameras, which is said to be useful to use as a viewfinder to take selfies with these primary rear cameras. It’s an always-on display that showcases what you would normally see on a lock screen. This can include time, notifications alerts, to name a few.
On the front, there’s a punch-hole cutout to incorporate a 20MP selfie camera with an f/2.3 aperture.
Mi 11 Ultra — Design and Display
The Mi 11 Ultra comes with a full-screen curved display measuring 6.81-inches. It features a WQHD+ display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. There are 120Hz refresh rates along with 480Hz refresh rates. It’s an E4 AMOLED panel with 515ppi and a peak brightness of 1700 nits. The contrast ratio is 5,000,000:1 and has 100% DCI-P3 as well. The display further has HDR10+ certification, and for authentication, it has an on-screen fingerprint scanner. On top, it has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
This bigger screen encloses in a back made of ceramic and is available in two colour variants: Black and White. On the whole, the device along with the giant camera module is said to be weighing 234 grams.
Mi 11 Ultra — Tech Specs
The Mi 11 Ultra is a 5G device — thanks to Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, underneath. It’s the chipset maker’s first 5nm flagship processor that uses Kryo 680 CPU and Adreno 660 GPU. The device is further utilizing triple-phase material for cooling and control heat dissipation. It has Snapdragon’s X60 latest 5G modem to make the device 5G capable. In terms of memory, the Mi 11 Ultra packs in 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and internal memory of 256GB UFS 3.1. The device ships with Android 11 with MIUI 12 running on top of it.
There’s a decent 5000mAh battery powering the Mi 11 Ultra. It supports Xiaomi’s 67W fast wired and wireless charging. Besides, there is support to 10W reverse wireless charging as well.
The other highlights of this flagship include Speaker designed by Harman Kardon; it has Hi-Res and Hi-Res wireless audio certification; has an IR blaster; it is IP68 rated for water and dust resistance; dual-band Wi-Fi (6E) and GPS; supports NFC; supports Bluetooth 5.2, and lastly, supports OTG.
Mi 11 Ultra — Pricing
The Mi 11 Ultra comes with a single storage variant (12GB+256GB) and it retails in India at Rs 69,999. Xiaomi India is yet to confirm the availability of the device in the country.
