MediaTek quietly launches the Helio G70 SoC for mid-range smartphones

Mediatek had recently gained some attention in the smartphone arena with its Helio G90T SoC. The chipset first appeared with the Redmi Note 8 Pro and was gaming-centric. You can watch our review of the Redmi Note 8 Pro for the insights of the gaming performance. Now the company has quietly unveiled a brand new silicon for the gamers out there. The new Helio G70 processor is another gaming-centric processor. 

MediaTek Helio G70: Features and Specifications 

The Helio G70 SoC is meant to deliver a fast and smooth gaming experience even in affordable phones. You get the same MediaTek Hyper Engine Technology for better gaming performance. The G70 also features 64bit octa-cores. There’s also support for multi-camera photography. As per a report by 91mobiles, the G70 SoC might power the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi 9. 

The chipset incorporates the powerful Cortex-A75 CPUs operating up to 2GHz. There are also 6 Cortex-A55 processors in a single octa-core cluster. It is said to support the large L3 cache for better performance and up to 8GB of fast LPDDR4X RAM. For graphics, you get CorePilot ARM Mali-G72 that operates up to 820MHz for high-end gaming. According to MediaTek, the Hyper Engine Technology ensures that “you get fast and smooth action in your favourite games, through intelligent networking and resource management”

For photography, the SoC can support either a single 48MP camera or up to 16MP + 16MP dual-camera setup. It will also support features like AI Face Unlock, Smart Photo Album, Single Cam/Dual Cam Bokeh and much more. Other highlights include the support for a 1080 x 2520 pixels display resolution.
