You’d be forgiven if you don’t know about Chinese smartphone maker – Maze. In a smartphone world dominated by Xiaomi or OnePlus, at least in the online segment, it is easy to lose sight of things. Maze is a relatively new brand, even in China, that came on the radar with the launch of the Maze Alpha. the Maze Alpha’s claim to fame was its Mi Mix-like design coupled with affordable pricing.
Now, the company has set foot in India. We spotted a Facebook promotion of the phone being sold via Flipkart and Amazon. Looks like it was a fairly soft, hush-hush launch affair. A seller by the name of ProfitFreeBazaar seems to be importing these phones from China directly and selling them on both the popular e-commerce sites. We are unsure if Maze has plans to sell its newer Alpha X too and what its future plans are for India.

The Maze Alpha has a price tag of Rs 14,130 in India. The very first phone from the company comes with a 6.0-inch Full-HD display that resembles the Mi Mix. However, unlike the Mi Mix, the Maze Alpha has a quite substantial bottom chin that houses a fingerprint reader. The screen-to-body ratio is still 83% while Maze has applied a 2.5D Gorilla Glass 4 on top of the display.
This particular variant has 4GB of RAM coupled with a MediaTek Helio P25 processor and 64GB of RAM. There’s a 6GB version as well but its not yet available on Flipkart. The rear camera has dual shooters with a 13MP primary lens and a 5MP secondary lens. While the front has a bare-bones 5MP shooter. Software-wise, it runs close to stock Android Nougat with the help of a 3,900mAh battery.
The dual SIM device supports 4G VoLTE, and SD card expansion as well. There’s only a Black colour variant available as of now.
We think that the Alpha is a little too late to the party and might not find many takers. Will you buy this phone? Let us know in the comments section below. Stay tuned to Mr. Phone and download our app to get the latest updates from the world of smartphone technology.
