LG to rebrand its “G” series flagship smartphone this year

LG Electronics is considering a scheme to change names of their upcoming smartphones. Yes, this clearly means there will be no LG G7 in 2018 the name of the device will be replaced with a two digit number.

An official from the company stated, “LG is preparing a new brand strategy for the G series in the first half of the year. Numbering the phone with a two-digit number and rebranding the phone with a new name are some of the options on the table.”

LG is not the first company to take this step, its competitors like Apple and Samsung have already done it in the past. Like Apple introduced the world the premium iPhone X which is not there usual naming scheme like iPhone 7 or iPhone 8 Plus. Although the company has not provided with any transparency to the naming scheme yet.

If this information is true then the G7 will be called as LG G70 or 70, the “G” brand seems to be all ready for exit. The company is expected to release its latest flagship in the Mobile World Congress 2018. The prime feature of this handset will be that it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. The device will be unveiled after the Galaxy S9 at MWC.
