Amazon has launched a new Kindle Paperwhite today with some serious upgrades. It comes in two variant – an 8GB Wi-Fi model and the 32GB model with 4G support. They are priced at Rs 12,999 and Rs 17,999, respectively. The smaller variant is available for pre-order and will start shipping from November 14. The bigger cellular variant will come after a few months. If you pre-order the Kindle Paperwhite right now, you’d get unlimited three months for free on Kindle and after that, you’ll have to pay Rs 150 per month. Placing a pre-order for the gadget will also get you an additional two-year warranty.
As for the specs, the new Kindle Paperwhite has the same 6-inch display but the brightness has been increased by 10 per cent. This has been done to ensure a smooth reading experience during sunny days. On the other hand, the five LEDs in the display do not make it lose the glare-free aspect, irrespective of setting. The screen resolution has also been increased to 300ppi. The gadget will also support Audible audiobooks through Bluetooth headphones.
Additionally, the Kindle Paperwhite has an IP68 certification. This means that it can take up to two metres of water for sixty minutes. The Kindle home screen has also been improved for search and recommendations. Now, you can easily find all the books that you want easily. Multiple reading settings can also be saved including the preferred font, orientation settings and boldness level. You can access them from the main menu and switch between all these easily too.
Along with this, the already existing features like X-Ray, Word Wise and Whispersync are also present on the new Kindle Paperwhite. Jayshree Gururaj, Director at Amazon Devices said, “Our gold standard for Kindle continues to be a piece of paper. We are constantly improving the design to help customers stay immersed in the story. Today, we are excited to bring even more premium features — like a thinner and lighter flush-front design, additional storage, waterproofing — to our most popular Kindle.”
The home screen features would also be provided to the older Kindle models as claimed by Amazon. Are you going to buy the all-new Kindle Paperwhite? Let us know in the comments section below. Stay tuned to Mr. Phone for more updates.
