Due to the current 21-day lockdown announced by the Indian government, iPhone makers have decided to shut down all operations. Foxconn and Wistron Corp, the major players, have arrived at this decision to support the nationwide lockdown. This means that all the assembly operations of the Apple iPhone in India will no longer be active.
Apple India stops iPhone production
Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry Co, has decided to suspend operations till 14th April. This was communicated by the company via a message to Bloomberg News. The production will be resumed by the company as soon as the government announces further developments. A representative from Wistron has confirmed that the company is following the guidelines issued by the government. However, there was no comment regarding what products will get affected due to this decision of the company.
Apple has set up its office in Hyderabad with thousands of employees who work on Apple Maps data. They too are likely to face the impact by measures taken by the government to fight from the virus outbreak. Hence the company has decided to halt all the operations and protect everyone from the virus outbreak.
