With Hotstar leading the race Disney India Head, Uday Shankar thinks it is a massive opportunity for the upcoming Disney service in India. While in the United States it is said to start charging $6.99 (Rs 485 approximately) per month to the users, in India it is said to take the route via Hotstar. Note, Hotstar’s monthly subscription cost Rs 299 while its annual subscription is currently discounted at Rs 999.

When is Disney+ shows and movies would be available on Hotstar?
Disney in the United States has announced the availability of its service from November 2019. That’s still six months down the line. It is also unknown whether India availability would be parallel to the United States or not. But with the increasing count of users signing up for the OTT players and ready to pay for the content. The company could bring its library to Hotstar as soon as it’s possible.
After this announcement that Disney+ shows and movies would be available in India via Hotstar and there won’t be extra charges either. The Hotstar valuation as service compared to its competition has doubled. For people who have not subscribed to this service, the Disney+ addition makes it a sweet reason to subscribe.
Although, it is unknown how many titles the company would be bringing down to India as compared to the United States. If that number is good enough, then there’s no reason for you to not subscribe to Hotstar if you have been stalling it for a while.
