Huawei’s online-selling subsidiary, Honor, has just sent invitations for a July 24 launch event in India. The invite, while keeping the identity of the product a secret, says the handset will be “#NOORDINARYBEAUTY”. Also noticeable is the difference in the colour of the words, which is Blue in the beginning and Purple at the end. This could be a hint at the glossy gradient colour that has been on a number of Huawei devices recently.
As for what Honor has in store, major consensus is that it will be an Honor 9i (2018) renamed as the Honor 9X in India. The Honor 9i (2018) is a fresh phone launched in June in China. It comes with a dual rear camera with a 13MP sensor being a primary one and a 2MP secondary sensor. It supports PDAF, HDR, and time-lapse as well as 1080p video recording software features. Cameras are a highlight of the phone as it comes with a 16MP front sensor with AI Beautification mode.
The Honor 9X would not represent a processor upgrade as it comes with the same octa-core Kirin 659 chip that sits inside last year’s Honor 7X. It has 4GB of RAM and storage options are 64GB and 128GB (expandable up to 256GB). The battery too isn’t an upgrade as Honor 9i runs Android Oreo with EMUI 8.0 on a 3000mAh Li-ion cell.
That said, this isn’t a 100 percent certainty that Honor would launch this product. It could also easily be some other smartphone including the Honor Play, or Nova 3, suggest some reports. If you want to know more about the Honor Play, here’s a link.
The Honor 9i (2018) retails for CNY 1,399 (approx. Rs 14,000) for the 64GB variant and CNY 1,699 (approx. Rs 17,000) for the 128GB variant in China.
