Google Wear OS: everything you should know about new update

Google Wear OS Update

Google is all set to bring a new set of features to its rebranded wearable operating system, Wear OS. The Mountain View giant has officially announced that it is giving the much-needed upgrade to the Wear OS. Unfortunately, the company didn’t share the information on what it will be called. It is unknown the new Wear OS will be given which version number. But we do know what the features are coming on it. Let’s talk about them briefly.

Wear OS Update: What are the new features?

The company has primarily focused on evolving the design of the Wear OS. To help you get the most out of the tiny screen; quicker notifications, proactive help from Google Assistant, and smarter health coaching. These all will be available with just a swipe of a finger, as quoted by Denis Troper, Director of product management, Wear OS, in a blog post on Google.

Below are the features you should expect on the major Wear OS update:

Access to Notifications

The revamped notifications will bring easy operations such as browsing, dismissing, or taking actions on notifications. Simply swipe up to see all the notifications. Interestingly, it is even possible to send a “Smart Reply” which we have seen on Gmail, Inbox by Gmail, and even apps like Allo. Once you swipe down, you can access features and shortcuts, like Find my phone, or Google Play app.

Bigger role of Google Assistant

There will be a proactive assistant on the new Wear OS update. What this means is that it will offer you personalized information at glance. For instance like your flight tracking, hotel reservation, and smart suggestions based on your location. Google has quoted that it will progressively add more features to Google Assistant on Wear OS.

Your watch will be your Health Coach

The new update will include a major feature dedicating to the fitness of your body. The in-built Google Fit app will offer more features like Heart points, move minutes, and more. You’d be able to simply swipe left and start a workout. Further tracking your performance will be easier with a new update as claimed by the company.

Google says these new features will arrive over the coming weeks when the company starts to roll out the major software update to the Wear OS enabled smartwatches. This directly relates to a company’s plan to introduce a Pixel Watch, which we may see along with the new Pixel phones announcement later in the fall.
