After much anticipation and several leaks, Google Pixel 6 is now official. The tech giant has introduced two new phones under its Google Pixel 6 series: the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro. While the latter is the higher-end model starting at $899, the Pixel 6 costs a little less starting at $599. While the device will be available in select regions, we are unsure whether these devices see the light of the day in India given the history of predecessors. As of the time of this writing, the Pixel 6 availability is not included for India at least that’s what Google product’s page suggests.

Display & Design

Unlike the Pro model, the Pixel 6 features a slightly smaller display measuring 6.4-inches. There’s a Smooth Display on the device, meaning you can see refresh rates at 90Hz. It comes with Full HD resolution with 411 pixels per inch and a 20:9 aspect ratio. For protection, there’s Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection on the top. The device weighs 207 grams and measures 8.9mm in thickness. The color options on the Pixel 6 include Sorta Seafoam, Kinda Coral, and Stormy Black.

Google Pixel 6 — Hardware

The Pixel 6 comes in two storage variants with 12GB of RAM (LPDDR5) and either 128GB or 256GB of onboard storage (UFS 3.1). Underneath, the device is powered by Google’s Tensor chip, the first-ever mobile chip made for smartphones. It aims to compete with current Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon processors. There’s a Titan M2 security coprocessor also accompanying the Tensor for the security of personal and sensitive information of the device. The Tensor equips four high-efficiency cores, coupled with two high-performance cores; coupled with Google’s machine learning engine, and an advanced image signal processor (ISP).


Like the sibling, the Pixel 6 Pro also houses a 50MP primary camera on the back. It comes with an f/1.85 aperture and an 82-degree field of view. There’s an additional 12MP ultra wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and 114-degree field of view. There’s an 8MP punch-hole selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and also comes with an 84-degree field of view, for wide-angle selfies. The rear cameras get special modes developed by Google comprising Magic Eraser mode, Motion mode, Real Tone mode, to name a few. For video, they support up to 4K at 30 FPS, and 60 FPS.


The Pixel 6 has a 4600mAh battery capacity, unlike the Pro model which comes with a 5000mAh battery. It supports fast charging and promises to get up to 50% in a mere thirty minutes. It further supports fast wireless charging; is Qi-compatible; and supports reverse wireless charging too.

The other key takeaways from Google Pixel 6 include an in-display fingerprint sensor; 5G Sub 6Hz spectrum support; Scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass Victus cover glass; stereo speakers; Wi-Fi 6E; Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC.
