The Pixel 5a brings in significant changes from the predecessor, including 5G capabilities, a bigger screen, and a decent upgrade to the battery. Google Pixel 5a (5G) — Display and Design
The Google Pixel 5a (5G) sports a 6.34-inches OLED display with Full HD+ resolution. It is a punch-hole display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and features 413ppi. The display further supports the always-on feature and also has HDR support. The Pixel 5a has a fingerprint sensor for authentication and a square camera module reminiscent of the predecessor on the rear. On the whole, the device has a metal unibody design, comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 cover glass, and features an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.
Google Pixel 5a (5G) — Tech Specs
The Pixel 5a, under the hood, has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC, which brings in 5G capabilities alongside clock speeds of up to 2.4GHz. It has Adreno 620 GPU for graphics, and for added security, the device uses Google’s Titan M security module. Though the device supports 5G, the Google website suggests the Pixel 5a is restricted to the 5G Sub-6 spectrum only and not the mmWave.
On the software front, the Pixel 5a runs on Android 11, and Google confirms a minimum of three years of OS and security updates. This could mean the Pixel 5a would be one of the first primary devices to receive Android 12 this fall alongside the flagship Pixel 6.
The Pixel 5a has a decent 4680mAh battery capacity underneath that charges through USB Type-C. It supports 18W fast charging with USB Power Delivery 2.0.
Google Pixel 5a (5G) — Cameras
The Pixel devices, in general, are renowned for their cameras, the predecessor proved to be good, and the Pixel 5a seems no different. The device features 12.2MP dual-pixel rear camera with AF, OIS and EIS and an aperture of f/1.7. There’s also a 16MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 118.7-degree field of view. The punch hole cutout on the front carries an 8MP selfie shooter with an f/2.0 aperture.
For video, the rear cameras support up to 4K video recording at 30 and 60fps, and the front camera settles at 1080p video recording at 30fps.
The other highlights of the Pixel 5a include Single Nano-SIM, eSIM, 3.5mm headphone jack, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS, stereo speakers, and USB Type-C 3.1 Gen 1 for charging and data transfers.
Google Pixel 5a (5G) — Pricing
