The State-owned telecom provider BSNL has announced a partnership with Detel Mobiles to provide data and voice advantages to feature phone users. The newly-launched Detel D1 is a single SIM phone, which will come pre-installed with a BSNL SIM. The first recharge on the phone will have a validity for 1 year.
The partnership will provide Detel D1 customers with a BSNL connection worth Rs 499. This connection gives users the benefit of the Rs 153 tariff which offers a talk time of with Rs 103. This offer is restricted only to the Detel D1 feature phone across India. In this offer, BSNL will charge 15 paise per minute for calls made to other BSNL connections, and calls to other network operators are charged at 40 paise per minute.
The device has a 1.44-inch monochrome display with an FM radio, speaker, torchlight, phonebook, and a 650mAh battery. The phone can only support 2G networks and has a one year warranty. The price of the Detel D1 is Rs 312 but after taxes, it amounts to Rs 349.
The Jio Phone
The Detel 1 is a step taken by BSNL in order to compete with the Jio Phone (another feature phone). The difference is that the Jio feature phone supports the Jio 4G data plan, which obviously gives it an advantage.
The Jio feature phone is available with a refundable deposit of Rs 1,500 and with a monthly recharge of Rs 153. The Detel D1 has no such conditions.
