Coolpad’s next iteration of the Cool Play series was just found listed on JingDong Mall in China today. The Cool Play, which succeeds the Cool Play 6, has not received formal official introduction which is set for July 30. However, being listed on JD.com, we have the entire blueprint of the smartphone.
The Cool Play 7 is supposed to be a flagship from the company say teasers, but we will shortly see below its just a middling device. Below is the summary of the listing on JD.com. The Cool Play 7 rocks a 5.85-inch HD display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and it possesses a notch. It still has a substantial bottom bezel and the notch is particularly big.
Coolpad still fits in a not-so-cool MediaTek octa-core MT6750 SoC clocked at 1.5GHz. To put it into perspective, this is a CPU that debuted in 2016 and is based on the 28nm process. This processor is assisted by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which is expandable. Its power source will be a 2,800mAh battery with micro-USB and fast charging.
As for photography needs, the Cool Play 7 has a double 13MP sensors at the back situated in a horizontal position on the top left corner. There’s an oval-shaped fingerprint reader in the centre and a single 8MP selfie shooter inhabits the notch. Thankfully, it runs Android Oreo.
The Cool Play 7 has a metal body design which is topped by glass and an oleophobic coating at the back whereas the frame is of zinc alloy material. The handset also has face unlock and a dedicated AI assistant from Coolpad.
