The Chinese Government does it again, bans Skype!

Apple has been removing many apps from China and sadly Skype is one of them. Skype is Microsoft’s online phone call app and messaging app. It recently vanished from the app store of Apple in China. This might prove to be a setback for the service company.

To this Apple responded, that they have not particularly removed Skype but other phone call apps too. This decision was made by them after the Chinese government claimed that these apps are violating local laws.

This is a statement from one of the Apple spokeswoman: “We have been notified by the Ministry of Public Security that a number of voice over Internet protocol apps do not comply with local law, therefore these apps have been removed from the App Store in China,”

Skyper for business is a very prominent app which is used in huge firms and businesses. The absence of this app will create problems for sure in the companies using it. There has been no comment so far from the Cyberspace Administration of China on this matter.

The reason behind this atrocity from the government of China could be that recently China has enhanced the inspection of internet applications. It has given orders to certain firms and demanded to remove hundreds of apps that gives its users the space to communicate in secrecy. The authorities say that these actions are implemented to prevent terrorist activities which take shelter behind these apps.

Not only Skype, sites like Google, Twitter, and Facebook are too banned in China.

Give us your views on this move by the Chinese government, do you think this is going beyond the line? or is it necessary looking at the current state of terrorism?
