We recently witnessed the launch of the Razer Phone 2 and rumours circulating in the airwaves have been telling us that Xiaomi’s Black Shark 2 is not far. The latest report also suggested that the Black Shark 2 won’t be just a China-limited affair, instead, it will be global to go up against the Razer Phone 2. To back those rumours, a hands-on video of the alleged Black Shark 2 appeared, as it usually does, out of nowhere.
With gaming phones, a breathing RGB logo is the order of the day. No gaming smartphone comes without it. And with the modest video clip that surfaced today, Black Shark 2 is shown to have three. So, while casual smartphones have a competition going on for cameras, gaming smartphones seem to have an arena of their own – RGB Lights.
The Black Shark 2 has two strips on either side of the frame and a central breathing “S” logo that was also on the predecessor. Let it be known that the clip is 9-seconds long and you will be disappointed if you’ve been watching too many Pixel 3 unboxing leaks recently. We do notice a dual camera setup though and the dark environment does well in hiding what little we see of its design. That said, we do see the previous elements making its way on the back here. Take a look at the video yourself to make sense of it.
Black Shark has teased the handset on its official website but there’s little to no info surrounding the calibre of the upcoming upgrade. If it does launch before the end of 2018, we are likely to see a Snapdragon 845 SoC as we did on the Razer Phone 2.
