Amazon to take on Netmeds, 1MG, and more; will soon introduce medicine delivery in India

Amazon Pharmacy - Feature Image-2

Amazon has been quite popular in India as an e-commerce site. It has faced minor competition in India, but, it has still been on top after all these years. The brand started with selling books however, today it is literally the everything store, with products ranging from A to Z. Today, the brand has tried to do something different in India with the launch of Amazon Pharmacy to compete with other E-com Pharmacies or local pharmacies. What is it all about and where is it available? Let us discuss the same in detail.

Amazon Pharmacy – Details and Service

The Amazon Pharmacy will be limited to Bangalore as of now, with other cities being serviceable in the near future. The company states that it will offer both over the-counter-medications and prescription drugs. They will also deliver traditional herbal medication and Ayurvedic medication. Basic equipment will also be sold via the same. A spokesperson states- “this is particularly relevant in present times as it will help customers meet their essential needs while staying at home, staying safe.”

This timing is also quite good since the pandemic is currently raging across the world, meaning that medicines are being bought more, while people are unable to purchase the same physically.

Amazon Pharmacy- Implications

There will be some implications as well. We will have to see the stock of the medicines that the company has, however, considering the position of the brand in India, there should not be any problems in terms of stock. This is a bit of a threat for local sellers though since the medicines will be easily deliverable with some offers being present as well. This will be quite a bit of an issue for small organisations who were trying to make a change. We will have to wait and see what the future holds for other sellers of these medications.

What are your thoughts on this? Are you excited to try this out?
