Xiaomi had last week released a nightly build of MIUI 9.5 for Redmi Note 4 users in India. The build came with features like the much-needed Bundled Notifications and easy Quick Reply. It also contained the February security patch. Earlier, it seemed that a stable MIUI 9.5 update would take time to arrive on a large scale. But here it is.
The company announced yesterday on its forums that it is rolling out MIUI 9.5 Global Stable ROM via OTA. The MIUI 9.5 update doesn’t make the jump to Android Oreo and is still based on Android Nougat. As many as 30 smartphones will receive the update among which Redmi, Mi MIX, and Mi Max series will be the first. Xiaomi also declared OTA schedules for many other phones. Yet even more models will be included, later on, states Xiaomi.
As per information on the forums, Xiaomi mentioned MIUI 9.5 stable ROM for the Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Redmi Note 3 (Qualcomm SoC), Redmi Note 4 (Qualcomm SoC)/ Redmi Note 4X, Mi Max, and Mi Max Prime. These handsets will get updates via OTA.
In the last days of March, more devices such as the Redmi 3S, Redmi 4A, Redmi 4 Prime, and Redmi Note 4 (MediaTek SoC) will get the update. And finally at the beginning of April, Redmi Note 5A/ Redmi Y1, Redmi Y1 Lite, Redmi 5A, Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi Note 5, Mi Max 2, Mi 5, Mi 6, Redmi 4X, and Mi MIX 2 will get an OTA for the said update. However, these dates are not set in stone and might change subject to various reasons.
